That’s right, your key fob signal can be intercepted by car thieves. It’s called the “relay hack,” and allows two radios to communicate with the car key and car. By doing this, criminals can easily unlock and start your car.

There are a couple of different options when it comes to thwarting these crooks, If you don’t mind spending the money, A faraday bag should do the trick. RFID cardholders won’t give you the protection you need, the opening in them can still be hacked.

It may not be the most aesthetically pleasing solution, but at least your car won’t get stolen. Be sure to fully wrap the fob in tinfoil or aluminum foil and test it on your car. If you can still unlock your car, thieves can still intercept your signal.
