Imagine waking up in the early hours of the morning, walking downstairs and finding a dog in your house. A dog. Not your dog.

You don’t even know how the animal got inside but there it is. That is what happened to Jack Jokinen and his wife from Philadelphia.

Jack Jokinen woke up around 4 am in the morning to find a dog in his house.

Jack’s wife woke him up and told him that their one-month-old baby was fine, but there was a dog downstairs. Jack, all groggy and confused, went down to find a blonde colored dog in his house.

She was extremely malnourished and limping. Jack was wondering how on earth she got inside so he pulled up the security camera footage and found something incredible.

The front door had been left open in the night and the dog found her way in.

When Jack played the recording, he saw the dog limping down the street. She took a few brave steps up the front of their porch, then went inside.

Jack evidently had not latched the door tight enough the night before and the storm had blown the front door wide open. The poor dog was limping outside in the rain.

About 20 minutes later, we see a man notice something as he was walking down the street.

He saw the door open and knew something was off. He yelled inside, but after not hearing anything, the man shut and locked the door. But this locked the dog inside where she was found a few hours later.

They named her Suzy. She was in rough shape but the family decided to adopt her.

Poor little Suzy was malnourished and limping. She was missing the pads on her paws and had fleas and worms. The next morning, the family called the vet.. They found Suzy had a heart murmur and will need to have dental work done once she gains enough weight to undergo the procedure.

But the Jokinen family chose to look past all of that. All they want is for Suzy to have a better life. They adopted her and she is already showing signs of improvement and happiness in her new home.

Jack even got to meet the man who closed his door.

Through the news story, Jack was able to meet Steve Griendling, the man who we see on the camera closing his door in the middle of the night. Surely walking down the street in the middle of the night, seeing a front door to a home standing open would be something that would catch your eye.

Steve is an unsung hero. He saw something that didn’t look right and went out of his way to see for himself.

Suzy is well on her way to recovery in her new home.

Jack and his wife started a Facebook page just for Suzy. Even after just a few days with the family, she is gaining weight while getting all the medical attention that she needs. This wonderful and caring family turned what could have been a sad and concerning situation into something positive. Suzy has a new home and family.
