Company-Wide Meeting

In today’s quarantine lifestyle, we frequently have to communicate using our digital tools. Whether it be our smartphones, laptops, or even tablets, we are constantly utilizing these tools to extend our reach beyond our four walls. Zoom has taken the world of business communication by storm; becoming one of the leading video conferencing applications currently on the market. For most, it has created an efficient method of relaying information in order to keep certain business and services from shutting down as a result of the current global pandemic. For others, it’s a new way to engage with your furry companions on a completely different level.

This was Andrew Cotter’s idea for entertainment. Cotter, a BBC sports commentator, has been testing the waters on Zoom ever since the beginning of the pandemic. His latest experimentation involves the participation of his two lovely labradors, Olive and Mabel. One evening, Cotter organizes a “company meeting” with the two doggies in order to talk about their annual performances. The video commences as Cotter welcomes the two employees to the video conference room. Olive’s video starts first as he calmly pops into attendance. Mabel seemed to be connected, however took a bit longer to get her image to show up on screen.

As the two adorable dogs anxiously awaited their evaluation, Mabel had no issues showing her lack of interest. Suddenly, she looked to the side of the camera as if she had better things to do with her time.

“This is one of the things we have to address, the lack of focus at times,” said Cotter disdainfully at Mabel. “Well, there’s the inappropriate stuff with Kevin the Doberman from accounts as well.”

Discussion Of Annual Report

The sports broadcaster went on to list more of these “pressing issues” of how the furry employees have completely destroyed the sofas and out of 913 squirrels they’ve chased, none have been caught thus far. It seems Mabel had enough and looked to tap into her rebellious side by beginning to scratch mid-conversation.

Just when you thought Mabel couldn’t be more rambunctious, she pops into the video feed with her toy bunny. As she gnawed and chewed on her squeaky toy, Mabel didn’t seem to have a care in the world for anything Cotter had to say about her performance. She knows her worth and is not afraid to show it.

The Good, The Bad, The Distracted

As a result, Cotter mutes Mabel and delivers a positive message to Olive from management. The message states: “You’re a good dog. Yes, you are. Who’s a good dog? You’re a good dog,” The news brought immediate excitement to Olive who began waiving her tail in joy of the positive feedback. “Keep up the good work and thanks for joining us.” Said Cotter before letting Olive go free.

And now it was time for Mabel to finally face the music. To Cotter’s amazement, Mabel started falling asleep as they began to discuss her performance evaluation! “Are you falling asleep while we’re having this chat?” said a puzzled Cotter.

The Verdict

The video ends with Mabel dropping off from the conversation and leaving Cotter completely blindsided. “She’s gone…unbelievable,” stated Cotter who seemingly appeared as though he had lost all hope. The funny interaction between Cotter and his dogs was able to garner more than 980,000 viewers on YouTube alone. In the end, it seems management has decided that neither dog will be getting furloughed as a result of the crisis! Now, about those sofas.
