“Treezilla” was created by Steven Newland, and might be the coolest thing we’ve ever seen

Newland is a floatplane pilot from New Zealand, who got a brilliant idea last year for Christmas. Tired of the typical boring Christmas tree, he decided to make his own. Now he just had to choose what he wanted to make.

That’s when his 4-year-old nephew suggested a dinosaur tree, Newland immediately loved the idea. But if he was going to do it, he was going to do it right. He would build a Godzilla Christmas tree, and he was going to make it breathe smoke!

So the construction of the tree began. It took 4 Christmas trees, a weed mat, some wire, decorations, and a fog machine

First, he got all the supplies he would need to make it happen. That included: 33 ft of chicken wire, a weed mat, plastic teeth, Christmas light, paper claws, and four fir trees. Last but not least, the fog machine would hide in the dinosaur’s head.

“Treezilla” stands 5 ft 9 inches, not quite Godzilla’s original size, but he looks just as fierce! He has red glowing eyes, sharp white teeth and smoke billowing from his jaws. He’s even got a Santa had on, and Christmas lights covering him for some extra holiday flare.

“Treezilla” was eventually sold at an auction, with some of the proceeds going to charity

After storing the incredible tree for a while, Newland decided it was time for someone else to enjoy his creation. So he put it up for auction, 34 bids later it sold.

He received $270, $20 of which was donated to the Canteen children’s charity, an organization that’s dedicated to helping kids with cancer.

Newland’s next tree creation is in the works! We can’t wait to see what he comes up with

Newland informed Bored Panda that he had a new Christmas tree in the works, he even gave them a glimpse into some of the material he is going to be using. 5 meters of chains, a beer crate, and a ceiling fan is all he would say.

“This year’s tree is still under wraps (excuse the pun). I can tell you that it involves 5 meters of chain, a beer crate, and I had to buy a ceiling fan.” Newland told Bored Panda. He went on to say: “Also, remember all of the trees I’ve made in the past, I didn’t have children. Now that I do, I can go over the top, and I have a prop.”
