It’s always an absolutely crushing moment when an actor we love passes away. Sure, we may not have known them personally, but we can absolutely feel connected to them. This goes for any kind of celebrity or well-known figure who lives in the public eye. You follow them throughout their lives and suddenly, you feel like you’re friends.

On the bright side, though, some celebrities make it long enough to see their 100th birthday and that is incredible. So today, we’re celebrating all of the beloved actors who have celebrated their big 100. We’re happy to have them around!

1. Marsha A. Hunt, 101 years old

Marsha scored her first leading role at the age of 18 and went on to do a hundred movies! “I’m a born optimist,” she once said. “I guess the bright side always appealed to me to look at rather than the dark. I’ve been blessed. I never figured out why. But I sure have and I want the fates to know I’m grateful!”

2. Earlston J. Cameron, 101 years old

Earlston became the first Black actor to star in an English film when he appeared in Pool of London in 1951. He went on to do 70 movies. “I love my life and I am still not retired,” he said at one point, saying that he loved working. He also does not drink any alcohol.

3. Julie Gibson, 105 years old

Gibson is the oldest actress in the world after turning 105 years old! She is very private about her life now, but back then she spent a good majority of her time working in movie production and radio. She retired in 1984 and never had children.

4. Diana Serra Cary, 100 years old

Diana was also known as Baby Peggy. She became famous in the silent movie era but her career came to an end due to an issue between her father and a producer. After her acting stint, she went on to have a family and write books. She owes her longevity to having a wonderful family.

5. Fay McKenzie, 101 years old

Fay got an early start in her acting career as a baby and continued with it, going on to star in westerns. She took a break from acting for a while but then went back to doing a lot of supporting roles and TV series.

6. Kirk Douglas, 102 years old

Kirk is a three-time Oscar nominee who has done over 200 movies. The secret to his long life? Having a happy family! “We are soulmates,” he said of him and his wife. “I think our great marriage and our long conversations in the dark allowed me to live this long.”

7. Ruth Anderson, 100 years old

Known as Ruth Dusty Anderson, she started her career as a pin-up model. After that, she starred in seven movies and then ended her career in 1951 to spend more time with her family and husband, famous director/scriptwriter Jean Negulesco.

8. Olivia de Havilland, 102 years old

Olivia is one of the most well-known actresses of the golden age of cinema, partially thanks to her starring role as Melanie Hamilton in the classic Gone With The Wind. In the past, she has said that the most important aspects of life are loving, laughing, and continuing to learn new things — even when you are 102 years old!

9. Suzy Delair, 101 years old

Suzy Delair is a French actress and singer who has been in 30 movies. Her secret to living a long, healthy life? Staying busy. “I don’t have a single minute for me! I answer the letters, I prepare memory books, I work for the Universal where the CDs with my songs are published. Every summer, I go to Brittany on vacation. And before the vacation, I need to prepare everything.”

10. Norman Lloyd, 104 years old

To this day, Norman continues to eat fried chicken and drink sangria. When asked about his longevity, he simply says he’s lucky! His career has been going on for 80 years and he is the oldest actor in the world.

Pretty cool to see the trajectories of all these different actors’ lives! We hope we can all be as lucky as Norman Lloyd and eat fried chicken for life!
