When all seems wrong in the world, children are always there with their kind hearts and excitement for life to make things better again.

One of the best things about little kids is their compassion towards animals. We don’t think we’ve ever seen a child be mean to an animal (at least not intentionally).

Here is the story of what happened when four little boys from Detroit came across a dog who had been cruelly abandoned.

Brothers Kenny, Kenneth, and Kevin Dancy were out with their friend Andrew Daniels when they first discovered the little pitbull. At the time, the boys were already performing an act of kindness by helping an elderly neighbor move her belongings.

When they spotted the dog, they knew that their kindness needed to be extended even further.

Somebody had carelessly tied her to some bungee cords, where she had been left with no food, water, or blankets. The boys quickly freed her from the cords and wrapped her in one of their jackets to keep her warm.

She was tired, weak and scared, but the boys did a great job of looking after her, feeding her small bites of food until the rescue team arrived.

By this point, the boys had grown very attached to the dog. They decided to name her Sparkles, and were anxious to know that she was going to be okay.

Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue shared the sweet story of the little heroes’ rescue onto Facebook, saying:

‘Our heroes of the day! Young dog rescuers starting early. These sweet kids rescued this dog that has been left behind on bungee cords and kept her safe until we could come and get her.’

Along with the caption, they shared some of the most heart-warming photos of the boys crowding around Sparkles and giving her kisses.

You can see just how much they’ve grown to care for her in that short amount of time!

“You could tell they really love this dog,” Theresa Sumpter, the organization’s founder, told WDIV. “They really were protective of the dog and wanted to make sure the dog was going to a good place.”

Sparkles was found to have a skin disease called mange, but Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue assured the boys (and everyone else) that the sweet dog was doing well.

‘We are happy to announce that our sweet girl Sparkles is now vaccinated, spayed and HW negative! She is currently getting ready to be transferred to our friends at Pet Tales Rescue in Grand Rapids, MI to find a forever home of her very own! Thank you to those wonderful kids who helped this sweet girl!!!’

Since then, the four boys have been unstoppable!

They’ve rescued another two dogs since they found Sparkles, which is seriously impressive in our eyes.

Thanks to the brothers and their friend, every single dog they’ve rescued has gone on to make a complete recovery. With such caring bones in their bodies, we can’t wait to see what they all get up to in the future. They’re all superstars!
