Anyone who grew up partially in the country probably has fond memories of childhood. Unlike city living, there was always plenty of room to run around and maybe even swim in a nearby lake with the family dog. For a lot of boys out there, few memories are as formative as those spent fishing with our dads. With that in mind, this story is for everybody who remembers trying to fish unsuccessfully with one of those toy rods that our dads essentially bought just to humor us.

It was a sunny day out on the lake when a little boy named Cason was fishing on the shore with his toy rod. After a quick cast, his dad tells him to reel it in—before he feels a tug on the line. “I’ve got one!” he yells as his dad and sister move in excitedly beside him. Rather than help him too much, the boy’s dad sits beside him and coaches him along while letting him bring the fish in by himself. “Look at him jumping!” you can hear him shout in the background.

After just a little struggle, Cason finally manages to bring the fish all the way in. Once it’s finally on the shore, his entire family goes nuts cheering for him.

The first one to congratulate him is his sister, who runs up and gets him in a bear hug. After a little more celebrating, Cason’s father helps him hold it up for a picture. Throughout the process, you can hear his sister commenting insistently. “That’s how a man holds it,” she says. Still, it’s unclear if the trophy picture ever actually gets taken—at the end of the clip, Cason drops the fish which quickly starts scuttling away.

This video has really got it all. It’s definitely heart-warming to see a little boy catch his first fish with his father and we challenge you not to laugh at the end when Cason tries his best to pose for a picture.

It’s easy to see why moments like these go viral. After all, sometimes we all wish we could get out of the city, dip our feet in the water and soak up the sunshine again instead of being in the office all day. Anyway, keep on keeping on Cason! We wish you the best in all your future angling adventures.
