Grandparents Dave and Ruby Dunlop wanted to spend more time with their grandkids. So what did they do? They built a massive Harry Potter playhouse!

The lucky children who received the amazing present were the Dunlop’s three grandchildren. One of the children, named Logan, who is two years old, is a huge Harry Potter fan. So imagine her delight when she found out about the playhouse! Logan’s friends also love coming over to play in the Harry-Potter-themed fortress.

The Dunlops tapped Tyson Leavitt of Charmed Playhouses in Alberta, Canada, to build the playhouse. The actual playhouse was designed in just a few hours. Then it took two days for 3D rendering and blueprint creation. It took six weeks for the playhouse to be built inside a large workshop. After that, setting it up on the Dunlop’s property in Spencerville, Ontario, took three days.

“We felt it would be so neat if Logan had a special place for her to come and play with at Pa’s and Gram’s. So we gave Tyson full creative freedom,” grandfather Dave said. “My son and his wife got a playhouse built for them by Tyson too, and it was delivered the same time as ours — so we’re somewhat loyal customers! It got exactly the reaction we’d hoped for.”

How much did it cost?

While the Dunlops didn’t want to reveal the actual cost of the playhouse, playhouses built by Charmed Playhouses range from $15,000 to $250,000.

Leavitt builds luxury playhouses for customers in North America, Mexico, the U.K., and China. His philosophy is making the playhouses like “custom homes, but smaller scale and with way more fantasy.”

His other playhouse designs have included a Hobbit hole, Captain Hook’s pirate ship and Neverland, and a Disney-theme princess castle with a Rapunzel tower.

The magnificent playhouse features many aspects of the Harry Potter series, including Hogwarts Castle, Platform 9 ¾, Olivander’s wand shop, and part of the Dursley’s Privet Drive house. It also includes a bridge to the owlery in the Hogwarts Castle area of the house.

Plus, it also features all of the Harry Potter books, many strategically placed brooms, Logan’s own framed Hogwarts acceptance letter, and pictures of Harry Potter, Hermoine Granger, Albus Dumbledore, and Ron Weasley. They even plan to add a zip line in a few years when Logan gets older that will attach to the Hogwarts tower balcony and down to the ground.

And don’t forget the secret hatch, slide, and swing set!

And if those features aren’t enough …

Additional playhouse features include own-themed armchairs, a toy basilisk, a stunning chandelier, a Fantastic Bests-type trunk, and a slide that goes all the way down to the bottom of the house. Plus, there’s an electric fireplace on the bottom floor so that the house can still be used during the winter.

One element of the house the kids are sure to love is the cupboard under the stairs!
