The animal kingdom is truly fascinating to observe.

It’s a reminder of the wild nature we all stem from and how unfiltered and simple life once was. It’s a window into our roots that seeks to give us lessons in life that otherwise could not be taught any differently.

Speaking about lessons, one of the great teachers of life is our mother.

Whether biological or foster, mom’s symbolize unconditional love that permeates through eternity and knows no bounds. They are protectors, guardians, and nurturers to their young and will do anything to guarantee their survival.

A baby gorilla was born on August 19th at Bristol Zoo where a tender moment occurred. A viral photograph was taken of the momma gorilla cradling her newborn with love as it looked at her for guidance.

This moment pulls right at the heartstrings! You can see how much care and affection is being given to the baby gorilla as it is fed with snacks and milk to her satisfaction.

“Nine-year old Kala gave birth naturally, overnight to the infant with dad, Jock, just a few meters away and the rest of the family troop nearby, “Bristol Zoo commented. “We are all thrilled,” Lynsey Buff, Curator of Mammals at Bristol Zoo, stated about the newborn. “There is something very special about seeing a newborn baby gorilla they are such an iconic and charismatic species.”

Kala is a very gentle and loving mother.

You can see her giving her newborn attention and care as she carries it everywhere. She never lets her newborn out of sight and is always looking to suit its needs.

“She is being very attentive and taking good care of her baby,” said Lynsey. “It’s very early days but we are cautiously optimistic. The early signs are good and the baby looks to be a good size and is strong.”

The path for Kala was not an easy one, though.

She lost her first newborn last year in September and the pain has been terribly tough on her ever since.

The poor baby died just shy of being one week old. Kala went through an emergency C-section operation due to having low line placenta that blocked the birth canal.

The zookeepers assisted in the nurture of the baby by shutting down the zoo and allocating all the resources to raising the baby in a healthy way. As it turns out, it did not work as planned and the baby did not adjust well to the circumstances.

Luckily for Kala, this pregnancy has been nothing but great and has given her new hope.

The two seem to be inseparable and the baby looks to be healthier than ever before.

These western lowland gorillas are now in threat of being endangered. Originating from Cameroon, they try to maintain survival by avoiding poachers and hunters who participate in the bushmeat trade.

This is why it’s important to have the gorillas socialize.

The Bristol zookeepers were excited when the baby was able to join the other six gorillas at the zoo with no issues. That was an accomplishment all within itself.

“The baby’s half siblings, Afia and Ayana, continue to show great interest in the newest addition to the family troop which is great news-We are sure the youngster will be a great playmate for them before too long. It’s also a great learning experience for them showing them the skills they’ll need when they become moms themselves.”

Oddly enough, The sex of the baby is still up for debate.

“The baby is definitely looking very strong and healthy and is getting hairier and more alert. Kala continues to hold the baby very close which makes confirming its sex more difficult, but we hope we’ll be able to announce the sex of the little one very soon,” said the press from Bristol Zoo.
