Dog’s scheduled to be euthanized because of his looks. Then angel spots him

It’s awful to think that anyone could ever treat an animal cruelly. But sadly, it happens every day. One special puppy knows this treatment firsthand when they were dropped off at a high-kill shelter simply because they weren’t “perfect” looking.

An 8-week old American Staffordshire Terrier was taken from his mom and siblings and given away because the owner didn’t like the way the sweet dog looked.

The heartless and cruel owner dumped the confused and sad dog at a high-kill shelter, but thankfully, Cause For Paws found out about the puppy and knew they had to give him a second chance at life.

The tiny little puppy was born with a half-formed right ear and a blind left eye. Nicole Horabik from Cause for Paws thought that he was absolutely perfect, imperfections and all. She saw an adoption ad online for the little guy and she immediately located and tracked down the dog.

Horabik took the precious pup home and named him Captain Morgan – or The Cap for short.

After she got home, she shared Captain Morgan’s story on Facebook saying:

“Captain Morgan (Morgan, Captain or The Cap for short), an 8-week-old American Staffordshire Terrier was dropped off at a rural shelter for his “imperfections.” After a full vet check-up, this snuggler (man, he loves to snuggle!) has a clean bill of health, despite having a wonky eye and ears that don’t match in size. From what we can tell, he can’t see out of the one eye, but can hear fine from the smaller ear. He also has a slight underbite, but again, we think that’s what makes this love bug so darling! All that said, the vet doesn’t think there are any long term effects or issues. We’re thinking The Cap is the result of a very irresponsible backyard breeder, and we see his imperfections as perfection!

Captain Morgan gets along with other dogs, and has begun his socialization with his foster family. This kiddo loves to cuddle, snuggle and be near is foster family, so we think he’s making up for lost time.”

It wasn’t long after Horabik shared The Cap’s story that he found his forever home.

After quickly becoming very comfortable with his new family, Captain Morgan was given his very own Facebook page where friends and family can see updates and pictures of the sweet pup and his brand new, happy life.

One heartwarming update reads:

“Waiting by the door for our walk. I discovered today I’m no longer upset/angry that someone dumped him with the thought he wasn’t perfect. This big, slobbering, baby cow is beyond wonderful. I am now, sincerely thankful they did! Our family is blessed to share our lives with him,”

Cause for Paws is an incredible organization that has helped so many animals find families to love them.
