One young man proved you don’t need a fancy stage to showcase just how talented you are. In fact, it only takes a moment of him singing Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come” with his stereo to cause the goosebumps to rise.
Since his amateur video was posted on YouTube, it’s been viewed millions of times and has received more than 150,000 thumbs-ups. Soon you’ll realize why his performance is knocking people’s socks off.
If you love to sing, you should let your voice shine.
There are many incredible instruments on this earth, but one that’s arguably the most beautiful is the human voice. For those who can’t sing (my hand is raised), it’s mind-blowing to hear what some people are able to do with theirs.
In the video, the young-looking teen is in what appears to be his family’s laundry room. While it might not seem like the best performance area – with a voice like his he should be singing everywhere he goes.
Ready for chills?
With his stereo sitting on top of the washing machine, the music to “A Change Is Gonna Come” begins to play. He then belts out the lyrics:
“I was born…by the river…”
Yep, it only takes that single line to realize just how amazing of a singer the teen is. If he were on The Voice, it would be the moment when several judges slam their buttons at the same time.
Do you remember the female contestant that only sang a couple of notes before The Voice judges were turning?
Of course, there was so much more to come.
He continues on with the powerful song, which was recorded by legendary musical artist, Sam Cooke, in 1964. According to Song Facts, Cooke was inspired to write his protest tune, “A Change Is Gonna Come” after hearing “Blowin’ In The Wind” by Bob Dylan.
The young man steals your breath singing Cooke’s lyrics,
“It’s been a long, a long time coming – But I know a change gon’ come, oh yes, it will…”
You can see the passion in his performance.
Besides having a jaw-dropping voice (wait until you hear his high notes), it’s obvious the boy puts his heart and soul into his music. He keeps his eyes closed tight at times, and at one point even drops to his knees.
What’s fun about the video too is that you can hear his family members in the background and even a baby crying near the end. It adds to the fact that you can still create a spectacular rendition without all the glitter and gold.
It’s no wonder that this clip has spread like wildfire on YouTube and has been watched more than 4.7 million times. It’s also gathered thousands of comments.

One common thing is that many viewers mentioned that the teen should audition on a TV competition show like AGT, or be given a record deal. While we don’t have an update on this performer, we hope he never stops singing – even it’s just in his own laundry room!
