Woman Posts Boyfriend's Ring In Ring-Shaming Group
She didn't want him to propose after finding the ring because it wasn't good enough for her. After posting it online - the responses weren't what she expected.

It used to be that the biggest worries a woman had upon getting engaged were planning a wedding and being a wife. Now, there’s a new beast, and it’s called ‘ring shaming’.

Yes, that’s right. People literally have nothing better to do than shame others for having engagement rings they personally deem inadequate.

We, as a society, have seriously hit that point.

Recently, however, in a case of instant karma, one woman got taken down by a horde of internet commenters when she posted a photo, shaming a ring her boyfriend had not yet given her.

The photo was posted to the “Ring Shaming” Facebook group earlier this month. It features a gorgeous three-stone ring, with a caption reading:

“Ewwww. Self shame Friday here I come.
Found this in my BF’s nightstand.
Not a fan.
Please roast and tell me how to tactfully say no you need to get something different.”

Although the woman was probably expecting others to share her sentiments, it seemed it was too much for even a ring shaming group. Immediately, people started leaving harsh comments to put her in her place:

A member of the group took a screenshot of the post which spread like wildfire through various social media websites.

As per usual, Redditors had some interesting commentary:

“This is the saddest thing I’ve seen. It’s one thing when it’s a total stranger, but when someone that’s supposed to love you unconditionally acts like a grifter, it’s just plain sad. “

“Just watch. It will have been his mother’s ring. She died when he was 7 and her last words to him were to find a good person who would accept this modest ring that his father worked 2 years of overtime to buy.”

Some people couldn’t understand what she was complaining about.

“That is a f**king beautiful ring wtf is wrong with her.”

“It looks so pretty though? I don’t understand this lady.”

Others didn’t like the ring either.

“I mean, to be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of that style of ring either. And I can also understand why you’d want a right that you like if you’re going to wear it for the rest of your life.”

But most hoped her true colors would show before it was too late.

“I hope he saw the post and never proposed.”

“Honestly, her saying no would be the best thing to happen to the person who’s planning to propose.”

What are your thoughts?

What do you think about ring shaming? Why have people suddenly decided that a big ring is a measure of one’s affection? Did this lady really have anything to complain about? Be sure to let us know in the comments!
