There are a lot of things that can distract you while driving.
You can be distracted by a text message or an incoming call on your phone. A bad sight and even a good view on the road can also distract your attention on the wheels.
Having a rowdy companion in the car can also distract your focus on the road. So you better have well-behaved people in the car who won’t disturb your peace while driving.
These things are the most expected reasons for distracted driving. However, it can also come from a surprise.
While Spiderman is a beloved character, the inspect who inspired his name is not.
In Cairo, NY, a woman crashed her car when she got a random visit from a spider.
A detailed report about the incident was not fully discussed in public. However, it’s highly suspected the lady driver freaked out when she saw the spider inside the car.
It caused her to lose control of her vehicle and completely crash it. Fortunately, she only incurred a leg injury from the devastating crash.
Talking about fear of spiders, a.k.a “arachnophobia”.
A phobia is more than just a fear. According to Health Line:
“It’s an intense and overwhelming emotion that can make you feel like you’re under a serious threat. Arachnophobia can prevent you from participating in certain events or situations because your mind tells says you’re in danger from spiders.”
The type of spider the driver saw was also not identified. But because of the tragic result, we’re guessing it was humongous and really scary.
A single second of distraction while driving on the road can put anyone in danger.
Although most cars now are designed to react during emergency situations, nothing can prepare us for surprises. Trying to imagine what had happened before the incident, the woman must have been just peacefully driving on her way somewhere.
When all of a sudden, a four-legged freak scared her half to death. She panicked and lost control of the car.
Instead of crashing her car into other vehicles, she decided to wreck it on the roadside.
Whether our speculations are accurate or not, the woman’s certainly thankful she didn’t get herself or anybody else seriously hurt.
Of course, the itsy bitsy spider made a ruckus on the internet.
The Town of Cairo New York Police Department posted a few details about the car accident:
“After investigating today’s crash on Silver Spur Road we feel it necessary to bring up a contributing factor that is not covered too often. It is believed that the operator of the vehicle noticed a SPIDER in the drivers area with her as she was driving. The operator panicked and crashed suffering a leg injury from the crash.”
The post has been shared over 300 times. People were also making fun of the incident while some shared their sad experiences of losing their loved ones because of car accidents.
Anyone who drives a car is not just a driver.
Whether you drive alone, with family, or with clients, one thing is for sure, you are responsible not only for your own life but also for theirs.
Cases like this may be rare but it surely wouldn’t hurt if we take the Town of Cairo New York Police Department’s advice:
“We know that it is easier for some drivers than others but PLEASE, try to teach new drivers and yourselves to overcome the fear and pull over to a safe place. Lives depend on it.”
