There’s nothing the nation loves more than dancing dogs, so when we came across a video of a Border Collie dancing to an all time favorite of ours- Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen, we knew that we were in for a treat.

Yvonne Belin and her dog, Alice, entered into the FCI dog dance world championships back in 2016, which took place in Moscow, Russia.

Their routine was shown in the freestyle final, where only the ten best participants were competing, and unsurprisingly, they ended up coming in first place!

The judges were looking for only the most talented competitors to pull of an incredible freestyle routine.

According to Videos from Freestyle&HTM World Championship 2016 Moscow, the YouTube channel who shared Alice and Yvonne’s routine:

“A freestyle routine displays the dog and the handler in a creative, innovative and original way, using music and intricate movements to showcase teamwork, artistry, athleticism and style in interpreting the theme of the music.”

Yvonne knew that Alice and her routine had to be top-class, and they certainly didn’t disappoint.

As Yvonne and Alice take to center stage, they begin their routine in the most adorable way- with a little curtsey to the judges. As Yvonne lowers herself into a bow, Alice crosses her two front paws and drops her head into her own version of a curtsey.

Then for the fun part- the dancing. The music begins, and Alice starts as she means to go on, by rising up onto her two back legs and giving a couple of impressive spins.

The talented dog continues to surprise us with awesome tricks, including jumps, balances and some adorable looking backwards running.

At one point, Yvonne gets up onto her tip-toes- and so does Alice!

We’re also blown away by a part of the routine where Yvonne ducks down and Alice jumps high over her back. It’s like nothing we’ve ever seen before!

It’s clear that Yvonne and Alice have the creative, innovative routine that the judges were looking for, and Alice is certainly in it to win it. Throughout the whole of the routine she is exactly on step, and she frequently glances over at Yvonne to make sure she’s doing the right thing.

With all of that being said, we’re not in the least bit surprised that the pair’s routine was awarded with first place.

People took to the YouTube comments to express their joy for the video, with one person saying, “Just wondering how these dogs could be trained to that level, this is incredible.”

Another added, “I gotta hand it to this routine: their co-operation is unbelievable. On several occasions during the routine Alice isn’t even looking at her trainer, and the speed is amazing.”

A final person said, “We really underestimate dogs’ intelligence. That dog remembered that entire routine with little signs from its owner. Does this mean they also process music like we do?”

That’s certainly given us something to think about! We think Alice is an incredibly talented dog. Watch her and Yvonne’s amazing routine below.
