You won’t believe the tiny home that this couple built. It’s a gorgeous blend of modern space saving, classical French design, and a lot of creative artistic love.

The Sofia couple feel blessed to have lived a great life and their tiny house just adds to that

Bob & Rebekah Sofia are a couple who have been married for quite some time. They had children that they raised to adulthood and were finally left on their own. But rather than stay in a house that was too large for them, they decided to build their very own tiny home.

The first thing you’ll see in this tiny home is…

The exterior of the home is built entirely with reclaimed materials. This includes windows that they had to frame themselves and wood and metal that they sanded, treated, and painted to match their vision.

The home was built for comfort, as it provides the perfect place to sit outdoors and watch the world go by including hammocks, seating, and lighting.

Out back is the perfect place to keep clean beneath the…

The rear of the home is contained inside of a garden that is built around an outdoor bath. Bob explains that Rebekah enjoys having a place to soak which prompted them to place a bath outside for those nice soaks beneath the stars.

The kitchen comes complete with a gorgeous sink and an impressive…

Once you go inside, your eye might be drawn to your left when you see a full on Pizza oven. It seems impossible to imagine, but they wanted to be able to bake bread and cook piping hot pizza in minutes. They protect their home from heat with very careful insulation including ceramics that could resist heat.

But make sure you check out the pizza oven cover. The handle and decorations are made with pieces of a rosemary bush that this couple had to leave behind when they built and moved in to their new home.

The kitchen features a space-saving design that uses drawers in place of cabinets and shelving for ingredients and features a deep sink for optimal cleaning and washing.

Dining and conversation comes easy in their luxurious…

From there, you’ll see a small living area that’s designed for cozy dining and conversation. Bob says that his favorite part of the small nook is being able to watch his wife cook his breakfast since he likes to start his day seeing how beautiful she is. Can you imagine being able to enjoy this space with friends and a cup of coffee?

But the neatest part of this loft is that it comes complete with privacy screens. Just slide two panels and you have a cozy intimate area for two.

A small area for him and a smartly designed…

But don’t think that Bob doesn’t have any areas of his own. Check out this upstairs loft area that contains a soft bed and several of Bob’s favorite instruments. It’s just perfect for a late afternoon jam session or when he needs to have some time to think.

The cutest part of this loft is the ladder that leads to it. It’s a sliding ladder that can be moved out of the way and has been engraved with the French words for:

“Watch your step please, thank you”

Overlooking the entire home is the coziest sleeping area ever

But where do Rebekah and Bob sleep? Well, on the other side of the tiny home is another stair well that leads up to a secondary loft. But before you reach it you might notice the unique railing along the wall. Rebekah explains that they found a unique and thick vine on a tree one day and took it to fashion for their very own natural railing.

Then you see the bedroom itself and it is such a treat. A large wide bed in a cozy space with gorgeous wood above on the ceiling. Can you imagine being able to come home and rest in this adorable space?

He built the home to do more than make a drawing come to life

But you might be wondering what was the reason for making this fully packed tiny home. Bob mentioned that the design came from a sketch his wife made, but it goes deeper than that.

When asked, he told Living Big in a Tiny House that:

“I wanted some security for Rebecca. We never saved a lot…If something happens to me, then she has a house and she has enough money where she doesn’t have to work.”
