Everyone knows that if you are ever in the need for a good cry, Titanic is the film for you. Starring the beloved Leonardo DiCaprio and stunning Kate Winslet, the two play a couple that go through some major challenges.

It is possibly one of the most tragic love stories of all time.

But the shadow performers at VERBA Shadow Theatre turned that tragedy into something beautiful.

Through the art of shadow performance, the group choreographed a dance to the iconic Titanic song, “My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion.

It’s very dramatic, much like the film.

If you don’t know, shadow performance is quite literally what it sounds like — it is the art of presenting a story or play using images made by hand or any body parts combined with objects or images and with the unique music or sound accompaniment that support the performance.

The folks at VERBA begin with a group of people in front of the large boat. They have their suitcases and all of their things, presumably ready for what they think is about to be the best trip of their life.

The scenes are made up of projected images on a screen, that look as if they are moving along with the characters.

Next, they get in a car and they are off to the titanic.

We see a person sailing the ship and then later, we see a couple in love, who dance together in one of the romantic rooms on the boat. The man gives the woman a piece of jewelry and they continue to dance. It’s beautiful.

If you are not weeping yet, get ready for more.

Then, the woman threatens to jump off the boat, only to be saved by her prince charming. They continue to dance, whipping out some seriously spine-tingling choreography.

As more heartbreak occurs, they continue to find their way back to each other.

The iconic scene where DiCaprio is standing behind Winslet on the top of the boat is recreated, and it’s absolutely stunning as their shadows gaze out into the ocean together.

At one point, even the famous painting of Winsley appears on the screen. It’s just for a second, but it’s long enough for any super fan to catch a glance.

The ending is tragic, with the ship going down and causing legitimate mayhem. But still through it all, the two love birds manage to find each other.

At the very end, they are seen holding hands while floating off into the ocean in a seemingly tragic death. Eventually, their two hands gently let go and separate.

It’s deeply tragic, but it is also so beautiful.

There is no doubt this will make you sad… But you will also feel so happy to know that performance art as beautiful as this exists.
