According to The Teardrop Trailer website, in the 1940s, after World War II and the Great Depression had passed and the economy had improved, people had more disposable income to do fun things with. The teardrop trailer became an extremely popular option for families looking to go on vacation, and the newly developed American highway systems only made that option more attractive. Later on, in the 1950s, as cars became more powerful, people began discarding their teardrop trailers, looking for something “bigger and better.”

Nowadays, with both caravan camping and small-space living on the rise, it’s no surprise to see these two worlds collide in the form of Ultimate Campers‘ new Ultimate Nexus teardrop trailer.

This baby is compact, measuring only 13.7 inches in length, 16.5 feet in width, and coming in just shy of 6 feet tall. As you can see, the Ultimate Nexus incorporates large, 20-inch tires for traveling off-road terrain, giving this caravan a whopping 22 inches of ground clearance.

The model incorporates heavy-duty 4×4 shock absorbers, an independent trailing arm suspension and long-travel coil springs, all within a sleek and elegant design.

The Nexus has managed to successfully combine off-roading capabilities with luxurious, campsite amenities— and when its pop-up tent opens, the inside reveals some surprising features!

Campers enter the Ultimate Nexus through a small, folding staircase located at the back of the trailer.

Inside the caravan, your eyes first notice an elegant, U-shaped, leather seating area.

Next to it sits a cozy cooking space, equipped with a 2-burner stove, small fridge, and fold-out dining table.

Hot and cold water are supplied to the kitchen sink and bathroom shower through a built-in, 110L water tank.

The heating system, on the other hand, incorporates gas, and the trailer as a whole is powered by a 160W solar panel and two 100AH lithium batteries—ultimately allowing campers to enjoy their time on off-the-grid, as opposed to worrying about power concerns.

Behind the leather couches, the trailer conceals a sleeping area, complete with a king-size bed— a surprising feature for such a small amount of space!

The trailer’s sleeping area is located within the pop-up tent, allowing campers to simply open the screened windows for a beautiful view and/or breeze.

While the Ultimate Nexus teardrop caravan is a definite beauty, it does not come cheaply, with a basic model selling for about $58,400.

And, as I mentioned, this is just basic— all other features (such as an exterior canvas, awning, porta-potty, reverse camera, or laser projector) will end up costing you an additional pretty penny!
