Cancer is an unbiased disease, it selects its victims at random with no warning. Seeing cancer strike teens is especially heart-breaking, life as a teenager is already hectic and confusing enough. Having a deadly disease thrown into the mix is unimaginable.
When this high school student finds out he has a rare form of cancer, the school marching band sends him off to his first chemo treatment to show the schools behind him.

Bryce Wisdom is a junior at Judson High School in Converse, Texas. The main thing on his mind was a spot on the varsity football team until his world got turned upside down.
Unfortunately, Bryce went to the doctor and they found something very concerning. On his right kidney was a spot, tests confirmed it was a rare form of kidney cancer, Wilm’s Tumor. This type of tumor usually is in kids ages 3-4, but not always. People with this rare tumor usually have to go through surgery and chemo and radiation therapy.
Bryce immediately got surgery to remove his right kidney, he also began weeks of chemo treatments
With his right kidney removed, he started chemo-therapy treatments and was surprised to see his busy football coach there for support, his principle was there too! Bryce has loads of support, which helps in times like this!
“I was a little surprised when he went because I knew he was busy with the football team, but that’s the kind of person he is. He cares about people. It’s not just about football with him.” Bryce said about head coach, Rodney Williams.
The brave young man was named the captain of the football team, even though he can’t play, he’s an inspiration to his teammates
Bryce fully has the support of his family teammates and teachers. People at his school wear orange shirts that say “Bryce Strong” and his parents are inspired by their young son’s courage.

The rare form of cancer is very aggressive, only a month after completing chemo treatments, it returned and spread to other parts of Bryce’s body. This was devastating new for the whole Wisdom family, including the school.
“He went through 19 weeks of treatment and chemotherapy and he even rang the bell on August 23rd on his last day of chemo. Sadly on Sept 12th Bryce was told that another tumor was in his body and now the fight must begin again.” Said Diana, Bryce’s mother.
Bryce’s classmates found a clever way to send him off to his 2nd battle with cancer, the marching band to play for him on his way out of the school.
Bryce is doing what he can to get himself ready to begin the fight again, the students did something special to show his their with him. On the last day of school, the marching band played for Bryce while he was showered with orange and blue balloons, all while his classmate cheered him on!
There was also a GoFundMepage set up for Bryce’s family, to help with the rising medical bills. The $14,000 in donations, doubled the $7,000 that was asked for, a testament to the commitment of the community. To see his inspiring send-off, watch the video below.
