Many of us know that there is still much to be discovered under the sea. There are species living in the ocean, but we aren’t sure what they are yet.
Most of us think of typical sea creatures, such as whales, sharks, dolphins, and fish. These definitely live in the sea, but there is a lot more we don’t often think of.
Roman Fedortsov is a Russian fisherman. He works on a trawler, which is a fishing boat that is used for trawling (fishing with nets). He has managed to bring a lot of interesting things to the surface with those nets.
Can you imagine that some still end up in the store?
An Education in Fish
Fedortsov lives in Murmansk, Russia, a port. He explains that, because of this location, he went to the Marine University. During his education, Fedortsov gained knowledge about fishing and especially focused in on fishing technology. Today, he continues to use this fishing technology specialization.
Fedorstov has made an effort to start showing others what else is out there. To do this, he created a social media account.
According to Bored Panda, he explains it like this:
“I decided to create social media accounts because many people have no idea how some of the fish look. I’m constantly impressed by the appearance of some deep-water fish and want to share my experiences with other people.”
Amazing Depths
On his Twitter account, he posts pictures of all of the unique creatures he finds.
Many of the images that Fedortsov shares are rather unique. These aren’t your everyday fish. Some of the creatures even look like they’re from another planet! They are really different from what most of us are used to seeing.
When you look at some of these pictures, you might be terrified. These fish have some creepy features.

Fedorstov isn’t scared though. He says he’s actually more interested and impressed.
Even though Fedortsov isn’t terrified, that doesn’t mean you can’t be. Many people are taken aback by these interesting images!
A Closer Look
Now, not all of these fish look extremely different from the fish we’re used to. They have their similarities.
For example, this sea creature is slimy like regular fish. Although, it has a different shape and texture than what we are used to.
This next fish is quite interesting and rather dry. Was it ever even in the ocean? It doesn’t look anything like the fish that we are used to.
It seems like Fedortsov genuinely enjoys discovering these fish. He also loves interacting with his followers on social media.
Often, Fedortsov is answering questions or sharing additional information about the fish. He really wants to educate people and show them what else is in the ocean.
Fedortsov has a lot of experience with the inhabitants of the sea. He has been working onboard trawlers for seventeen years. He’s now 39 years old. It’s easy to say that he’s learned the ropes at this point. This is how he is able to find all of these shocking fish!
For Fedortsov, sharing these images and making others aware of the marine life out there is important. He wants to teach people what they’re missing out on.
After seeing the images from Fedortsov, it’s hard to imagine what else could be under the sea. We’re not sure if we should be terrified, amazed, or a bit of both.
