They both have such powerful voices, yet they melt together in the most peaceful way. The beauty of this brings tears to my eyes.

Sometimes, it’s easy to tell which singers will perform well together. Their voices, styles, and performance just seem to blend and complement each other. Others, on the other hand, come as a surprise, making people think, “I never would have put them together!”

But these unlikely pairings can surprise you.

Totally different styles and vocals have a way of coming together and providing a beautiful contrast.

Just take, for example, Pink performing “In the Arms of the Angel” with Sarah McLachlan.

The two women are as different as two performers have ever been.

McLachlan is ethereal, dreamy, and classical, known for songs like “In the Arms of the Angel,” “I Will Remember You,” “Angel,” and “Blackbird.”

Pink, on the other hand, became known first for her songs about partying and rebellion. Her early songs that broke the top 10 included “So What” and “Get the Party Started.” Later, she lent her powerful vocals to ballads like “Just Give Me a Reason,” “What About Us,” and “Try.”

So, it’s safe to say that the two performers wouldn’t normally be put on the same stage.

However, just like in relationships, opposites attract. That’s exactly what happened when Sarah McLachlan and Pink took the stage to perform a duet version of McLachlan’s “In the Arms of the Angel.”

The song started out as usual with McLachlan providing her lilting vocals for the first stanza.

Then, as the chorus began, Pink came forward, adding a lower harmony. At the sight of her, the audience went wild. And it was no wonder. The two singers together added depth and complexity to an already beautiful song.

Pink herself showed her versatility and talent.

She has an incredibly powerful voice, but she can also sing a gentle ballad like “In the Arms of the Angel.” It’s a testament to what an amazing performer she really is.

Then when she took over the second stanza, the pop artist lent a new flavor to McLachlan’s famous ballad. It was an unusually tame song for Pink but no less beautiful.

There is nothing but praise with viewers of this beloved duet.

“Love both of these women!!!” read one comment. “Two very different artists, each one incredible in their own way, come together and produce such a sublime performance. For me, this is as close to perfection as you can get!”

Others were adamant that it’s impossible to compare the two artists or say one is better than the other.

“It’s like comparing wine and whiskey,” read another comment. “Pink couldn’t sing in the beautiful syrupy smooth notes that SM sings any easier than SM could reproduce the raspy emotional tones of Pink. They are both friggin awesome.”

No matter which of the two artists you prefer, there’s no denying that their voices together are a testament to opposites complementing one another. It makes for a performance that’s truly unforgettable.
