Puppies. They have all the energy in the world. All that running, jumping, and wagging can take its toll after they’ve spent their energy. And just like kids, they will want to snuggle and sleep. And wouldn’t it be better if they had friends to burn all that energy with?

Emily Buchenberger is Billie’s mom. Billie is a very cute Golden Retriever who attends a local “puppy play hour”. It turns out that there’s something about Billie as Emily was about to find out.

Billie is quite special and has a heart of gold

Emily hails from Atlanta. She decided to take Billie, who was 4 months old this time, to a playgroup for puppies around her age. It was the perfect place for Billie to roam and play around while getting to know the other furry pups.

Imagine a big room designed for puppies to run around, play, and exercise. Perfect!

Billie had a few surprises for her mom

With so many friends to play with, over a dozen it would seem, Billie suddenly found herself gravitating to a certain group. And like kids in high school who find their social cliques, Billie started hanging out with fellow Golden Retrievers.

Dogs are naturally sociable animals and will almost always get along with others when taught at a young age

A bond was obviouosly beginning to form between Billie and her new friends. Call them the golden girls.

Emily says,

“The goldens have similar play styles so they immediately clicked. There might as well not have been the other 15 puppies at puppy hour because the goldens were attached to each other like glue.”

Golden Retrievers are known to be affectionate, sweet, and loyal

The Golden Retriever has a lot of energy as they were initially meant to be used to help hunters retrieve their prize in the Scottish Highlands. These dogs were meant to traverse long distances over mountains, streams, ponds, and lakes, That’s a lot of physical work!

They need physical activity. But it seems like Billie cares more about her social skills for now.

Heads or tails and what’s going on under there?

Buchenberger also noticed a pattern of behavior between her Billie and friends. Even though there was a lot of room and a lot of tous they could play with, the Golden girls had a different thing.

Where the other pups ran around and played, Billie and her friends almost always played and hid themselves underneath certain objects as if hiding their own little secret.

One viewer commented,

“You have interrupted their ritual of summoning the treat god.”

This is the Golden clique and shall not be disturbed

They seemed to like objects in blue too. From a blue bridge to a blue box of tunnels, these cute pups preferred to gossip among themselves in private.

What were they hiding? Treats? Was there some boy giving them the eye? Were they making promises to each other? Well the humans wanted to find out. A man decided to lift the box while Buchenberger filmed.

Oops! Caught gold handed

With their tails sticking out and not a single clue, the man lifts the box and… they were holding hands! Or paws.

It was the cutest most adorable sight. They stood up when they realized they were caught but it was only a matter of time before they started gathering again and meeting under their bridge. Now that’s friendship.
