Dogs are incredible animals.
And if you’re a dog owner, then you know that our furry little friends aren’t so different to us.
We both need love, affection, and most importantly… treats.
When Lulu the Shiba Inu decides that she doesn’t want to go to the vet in the morning, she uses the oldest trick in the book to try and get out of it–playing dead.
Now, I don’t know about you, but when I was younger, I did everything that I could to get out of going to school.
I would hide in my closet, fake a sickness, and yes, even play dead from time to time.
It would seem that Lulu and I aren’t so different once you get past the fur and four legs.
When Lulu’s owner comes in to wake her up, she’s not having any of it.
She lays in bed, ignoring her owner, hoping that she’ll just leave her alone.
To me, this dog’s reaction to having to go to the vet to get spayed seems pretty reasonable.
I don’t really enjoy going to the doctor, either.
So when her owner tries over and over to wake her up, Lulu remains as still as possible.
Her owner starts by calling her name and saying good morning to her.
That’s too easy for Lulu to ignore, however, and she remains motionless in the bed.
Then her owner tries something a bit more convincing.
She gives Lulu some belly scratches to entice her out of bed.
Any dog with less resolve would probably wake up to this, hoping for more scratches in return for their obedience.
However, Lulu is no ordinary dog, and she remains where she is–committed to her role of the recently deceased puppy.
So her owner tries another tactic.
This one is simple enough, she just yells “boo” a couple of times to try and startle Lulu awake.
But it doesn’t work.
Now her owner has to kick things up a notch and does so by pulling the covers off of Lulu.
This a move that my mom would use on me when I would refuse to get up for school.
And more times than not, it would work.
There was no reason to stay in bed any longer after you were cold and exposed.
However, when Lulu’s owner rips the covers down off of her dog, Lulu isn’t even remotely fazed by it.
At this point, her owner must be feeling pretty impressed by her dog’s ability to ignore her.
It’s actually quite impressive to watch.
She has no choice but to bring out the big guns, now.
Lulu’s owner walks over to the other side of the bed telling Lulu, “Dead puppies don’t get treats.”
Lulu remains calm, trying with all her might to resist the sound of that special world… treat.
However, no dog, no matter how committed they are, can resist the sound of the dog treats being shaken up in a container.
The second that Lulu’s owner grabs the bag of treats and begins to move them around, Lulu gives in.
She looks over to her owner and then proceeds to jump up and out of bed, apparently no longer dead.
