Protective bird won’t let anyone near cat

June 30th, 2020

Each of us has people in our lives who we would do absolutely anything for. Always there to protect if necessary or if they need a shoulder to cry on, an ear for listening, and anything else in between we do for the ones we love. This bond is not only seen in humans but in animals as well. Whether they are from the same species or unlikely friends once that bond is made there’s no turning back.

This is shown as one cockatiel protects his cat friend as it tries to get some much-needed shut-eye. As their owner records, we first see that the bird is perched on the cat’s shoulder as it begins to flutter its eyes open and closed trying to get some sleep.

Slowly the owner tries to go to pet his cat, however, the bird starts to chirp almost yelling at him to back off and begins to peck his hand away to leave the cat alone. In turn, all the commotion wakes up the sleepy cat who gently lifts its head to see what in the world is going on during its nap time.

Their owner then tries to pet the cat again to show us, the viewers, just how protective this bird is over its cat friend. The owner gently strokes the cat’s chin and the bird begins to chirp again and watch each and every movement the owner makes. Each time getting close to peck the hand away.

Then the owner then lets the cat rest a bit and show us the bird in its protective stance ready to defend its precious tired friend. The cat giving the sleepy side eye wondering why this must be happening during its valuable nap time.

The owner then goes into pet the cat again but this time petting the belly to show just how far the bird will go to protect the cat and just how upset the bird will get. We can tell the cat seems to enjoy the belly rubs from its owner because it lifts its leg to allow more area for loving pets. However, this will not happen on the bird’s protective watch. The bird begins to chirp again and goes after the owner’s hand to peck it away.

The owner continues to tease the bird by petting the cat’s face once more and showing those who are watching just how relentlessly protective the bird is over its friend.

Finally, the owner gives the cat one more tender and loving chin pet to the extreme dismay of the bird who continues to stand guard.

The owner then takes us closer into the bird’s protective and almost deadly stare to end the video. The birds glare proving to us even through the video camera that no one will be messing with their friend as long as this bird is there to stand guard.

Two unlikely friends that have created a bond so strong that the bird wouldn’t let anything happen to its sleepy cat friend. Even if that means yelling and pecking at their owner’s hand who is trying to give the cat gentle and loving pets. Another video proving to those who see it just how special friendship truly can be between animals as well.
