Just one day before delivering her baby, award-winning bellydancer Romy Mimus stunned people by performing an intriguing bellydance routine, executing moves that many women nine months pregnant could not do. Romy is an official member of the world famous Dance Company “Bellydance Superstars” and is a member of the multi-award winning dance ensemble Rakas.

Her enchanting moves are mesmerizing to watch. Some of her videos have even been aired on MTV.

Romy has toured the world dancing and is considering a “promising young talent.”

Her own mother, Enussah, happens to be a famous bellydancer and ran a huge oriental dance school in Germany that Romy attended. It was there that Romy studied under a wide variety of dancers and honed her talent; she’s been teaching others how to bellydance since 2006.

Bellydancing crosses many cultural boundaries and supposedly has roots in Africa and the Middle East. According to Love to Know, the earliest forms of bellydancing were the Egyptian ghawazi dance prevalent during the 19th century and Raqs Sharqi, an Arabic dance commonly performed in the 20th century.

Along with her bellydancing video, Romy explained how everyone can learn to bellydance and how it’s beneficial for pregnant women.

“Being pregnant doesn’t mean you can’t workout. But of course you have to be gentle and listen to your body. Movement keeps you fit and healthy during pregnancy. I personally always feel best while dancing, especially now with my little one.”

According to the American Pregnancy Association, most forms of exercise is safe during healthy pregnancies and, in fact, is recommended by obstetricians. Doctors warn, of course, to not lose weight during pregnancy. Exercise should help keep a mom-to-be’s weight in a healthy range as she gains slowly and steadily, and helps with other health aspects. Exercising while pregnant even helps alleviate backaches, bloating, digestive issues, and can help ward off gestational diabetes.

People watching Romy’s YouTube video couldn’t believe what they were seeing. Julianna Sequoyah noted that bellydancing actually “helps the labor process go faster and easier.”

In the video, Romy is dressed in traditional bellydance attire with her swollen belly exposed. She starts off hiding behind a sheer cloth and shimmies around, twirling and twisting, using the fabric for a visual effect.

Romy’s long curl hair flows around her while she dances. She wiggles and sways, eventually dropping the cloth and accelerating her dancing.

While she cannot move as extensively at nine months pregnant as she usually does, it’s impressive how flexible she still is. Romy shakes and shimmies to the music. The baby must be jamming out to the music in its cozy spot.

Many pregnant women learn how to pick things up off the ground with their feet because they can’t bend over, but Romy swings around, bending in half and swooping toward the floor.

In the video, it doesn’t even seem as if Romy has a single stretch mark. She’s amazing!

This video is jaw-dropping! See for yourself how amazing Romy is in the video below.
