What’s the best job in the world?
A Panda Nanny! Imagine spending all day petting, grooming, and training pandas. It’s a dream come true for millions of people out there and it could become a reality if you’re willing to relocate to China.
These nannies work at the China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center in Ya’an. One of the organizers called this job the “Chinese version of a caretaker of an island on the Great Barrier Reef”. That’s a big statement and we believe it.
These baby pandas deserve the utmost respect and care. They need caretakers who will love them like they deserve to be loved.
The workers even get paid 200,000 yuan a year. That’s over $30,000, which is over twice as much as most Chinese workers make. It may not be the most lucrative job in the world compared to other US jobs, but who wouldn’t do this for free? The job description states that “Your work has only one mission: spending 365 days with the pandas and sharing in their joys and sorrows.” Does that sound like something that would be worth devoting your career to?
Not only do they keep these pandas safe and clean, but they also train them. This is way more fun than training a puppy. Just look at those big eyes and soft fur. There’s a reason that pandas are the epitome of kawaii. Just try not to smile while holding one.
If they try to escape their room, then they might need a little help back to safety. Like puppies and human babies, they need guidance if they want to make it in this world. They will do their best to explore, but that’s best saved for when they’re a little older.
But most importantly, they need to be kept clean and protected, since most of these guys don’t have a mommy anymore. All the more reason to pamper and spoil them.
This job is more coveted than any other animal caretaker job to date.
Some of them are even newborn and need to be measured to make sure they are growing. Yep, it’s official, he’s 34 kawaiis wide. The more he grows, the more kawaii he will be, and that’s a fact. Let him show you his personality.
These pandas may be small, but they sure are fierce. Just kidding, pandas are the sweetest animal in the world. While some pandas have been known to defend themselves, those who care for them will forever be held dear to their hearts.
After they are measured, they can go back to what they do best. Taking the cutest panda naps! They may not sleep as much as koalas, but they do need their rest.
While full-grown pandas only sleep a little more than us, babies need a lot more sleep.
