Sometimes we have the luck of capturing a very special moment on camera. That is exactly what happened to Meaghan King as seen in a video she posted on her YouTube channel.

Mrs. King is a special education teacher that works at a middle school in California. Recently, one of her students, unfortunately, was having a very tough time.

In the video, the young girl can be seen huddling in the corner next to the school’s exit doors looking scared and anxious.

The student had already been standing there for over an hour before the footage was taken.

The text in the video simply says, “this student is having a hard time transitioning outside”.

King elaborates in an interview with ABC News.

“She was just having hard time transitioning from the hallway to outside. Transitions are tough,” King said.

We can all understand why the girl might feel this way. For many kids, school can often be an overwhelming experience, constantly pushing the boundaries of what they are used to.

Luckily, Officer Morrison of the Santa Rosa Police Department knew exactly what to do. She noticed the girl was clutching tightly onto her Kermit the Frog stuffed animal. Many of us had a particular stuffed animal we loved growing up and this student is no exception.

Our favorite toys not only help us to feel safe but also provide familiarity when we are out exploring new and unfamiliar environments as young people. It is a comfort thing.

Officer Morrison decided to appeal to the young girl’s love of Kermit by singing a very special song — “The Rainbow Connection” sung by none other than Kermit the Frog himself back in 1997.

It’s pretty amazing that Officer Morrison knows all the lyrics to this obscure musical track. Soon though, the video reveals more details.

It turns out that Officer Morrison used to be a teacher as well and spent 12-years working with high-risk students in Los Angeles.

We imagine that is how she picked up her awesome knowledge of Muppets music. Using songs in the classroom from popular television series that children are familiar with is often a great way to help keep the youngsters engaged.

After finishing her short performance, Officer Morrison had a big surprise for the student.

“Did you know Kermit sings that song?” Officer Morrison asks her.

Instantly, the student’s eyes light up and her whole demeanor changes.

It is obvious she wasn’t aware of the song’s original artist, but once she finds out, she is very happy.

We definitely have to agree with the title of the video A Special Moment… It is a very special moment indeed and certainly one worth sharing.

Morrison “goes out of her way, goes above and beyond, especially in situations like this where a child just needs a little extra help,” Santa Rosa Police Sgt Jeneane Kucker told ABC News.

“It’s typical of her with her personality. She’s just a very caring officer, person in general to go out of her way to assist a teacher with this child,” Kucker said.

It is amazing how much of a difference we can make in someone’s life just by being kind, caring, and thoughtful. We applaud Officer Morrison for going out of her way to help this young girl out, and of course, we would also like to thank Meaghan King for posting the video. It’s teachers like her that help to make the world a better place.
