On Britain’s Got Talent, hearts were moved and a powerful message was conveyed from the touching melodies of a group called Missing People Choir.

What is the Missing People Choir?

The choir was on a mission that grabbed everyone’s heart. They are comprised of people who have lost their loved ones over the years and formed this beautiful group with music producer and director James Hawkins and Clare Cook.

The group would perform across several platforms worldwide other than Britain’s Got Talent in hopes that their performance would reach out to their missing family members or people who may have information about their missing family members so that they can one day be reunited and be whole again.

The group also comprises of people who are workers of the charity or supporters of the charity who volunteered out of their own volition to help spread this message across the United Kingdom and anywhere else around the world.

They chose the perfect song.

The song itself that the group performed for their audition, aptly titled “I Miss You,” was co-written by member Peter Boxell, whose 15-year-old son had disappeared back in 1998.

Each member’s story pulled at everyone’s heart stronger and stronger.

One member, Peter Boxell, said his son Lee Boxell was 15 years old when he went missing back in 1988 and said that he would be 41 at the time of his performance.

A female performer of the choir said her son Quinton had been missing when he was 18 years old after walking out of the family house one afternoon after school and had never been seen again.

Another female performer son named Charles was 20 years at the time when he went missing 27 years prior to the group’s audition.

One female performer quoted to have said, “having the support of each other makes us stronger, sitting here together makes us stronger, and singing together makes us superstrong.”

Peter said, “to get a big audience like this is such a fabulous way of getting our message across.” Such great motivation. He also goes on to explain that the group will be showing photographs of their missing loved ones in front of the audience so that perhaps anyone attending the show or viewing it from their television screens could reach out to the performers and give them any information that they might have.

Peter struck people in the chest when he said,

“We all have to live in hope, because if there’s no hope, what will we have to live for? There’d be nothing.”

The group went on to perform their song ‘I Miss You’ right after Simon Cowell wished them good luck.

What followed after was a peaceful, soothing and inspirational melody that just as beautiful as it was emotional both in the rhythm of the instruments in the background as well as the angelic voices of the performers.

Anyone listening to the song could easily tell how much you love and prayers went into the lyrics and the composition. The entire arrangement was done so right both the judges and the audience were moved to tears.

The Final Verdict

Given how the song was put together and the overwhelmingly positive message they were trying to deliver, the Missing People Choir received nothing but praise from all the judges, yes even Simon Cowell confided in the feelings of these loving and caring folk.

Even though they finished eighth overall, the real victory was garnered when one of the performer’s missing boy had called his mother after watching her perform in the choir and was subsequently reunited with her. Another missing person from one of the images shown in the choir’s performance was later reunited with their families and information about the other two was also received.
