When 21-year-old Isaiah Mcintrye headed out that morning, he was expecting to have a pretty normal day. And when he saw an elderly woman struggling on the ice outside the store he had just come from, he didn’t hesitate to put on his mask and get back out of his car to offer help.
The woman graciously accepted, but little did the pair know, that Isaiah’s sweet act of kindness had been captured in a touching picture that the whole world would soon begin to know about.
The sweet moment was caught on camera by Samantha Voisine, who took the picture unbeknownst to the Good Samaritan. Samantha was so touched by the boy’s kindness that she decided to share the picture on Facebook, with the caption:
“I don’t know who he is but Thank You to the young gentleman at KG who drives a newer Subaru Impreza in Millinocket Maine who put his mask back on and got out of his car to help this elderly woman across the ice! In a time like this, it gives everyone hope!”
The picture soon went viral with over 1.1k reacts and thousands of people shared it onto their feeds for others to see. It was no time at all before the man made the local news, and the elderly woman’s identity was revealed.
I don’t know who he is but Thank You to the young gentleman at KG who drives a newer Subaru Impreza in Millinocket Maine…
The woman, 93-year-old Marjorie Moore, was invited to take part in an interview for NEWS CENTER Maine alongside Isaiah, and the whole story soon came out.
Marjorie is actually pretty well-known in the community for being a bit of a daredevil. For her 90th birthday, the fearless woman celebrated by going for a sky-dive, so she’s certainly not easily afraid.
But when she arrived at the store and realized that the path leading up to it was icy, Marjorie decided that it was easier to turn around and head back home.
However, before she could admit defeat, Isaiah had noticed that she was in need of some help, and hopped out of his car to assist her. The kind man walked Marjorie safely into the store, giving her the chance to do her shopping after all.
“He was just a young fellow…I thanked him and told him he was a very nice gentleman,” Marjorie said in her interview. “There are a lot of people who are very nice. Even over at the shopping center, they will see me and say you need help getting into the car or with your groceries.”
Isaiah seemed somewhat surprised that the picture had gone viral, telling the interviewer that he is used to helping people, and ‘it’s just how I was raised.’
“It’s not every day that you see people react positively towards other people,” he added.
It might have just been one small act of kindness, but this picture has lifted our spirits today! It’s nice to know that there are people like Isaiah in the world. Watch the pair’s interview below.
