He probably doesn't find it that funny, but it's so unbelievable, it's hard not to laugh!

During home renovations, you never know what kind of surprises you’ll find. If you’re lucky, you’ll find things like jewelry or money. If you’re unlucky, you might find rotting floorboards or a termite infestation. Or if you’re Mark Von Thaden from California, it might be the hidden treasure of woodpeckers.

Mark noticed holes punched all along the walls of his pool house, thanks to a few woodpeckers, and had to renovate in order to repair them.

After starting his renovations, Mark made a discovery that made him break out the camera because it was almost too strange and funny to believe. As he begins filming, he explains that the pesky woodpeckers have been pecking holes into the siding of his pool house for quite some time. He scans the room with the camera, showing dozens of holes poked through, leading straight outside.

Soon, Mark makes a declaration that makes a whole lot of sense. “I’ve determined I hate woodpeckers,” he says in the video uploaded to Facebook. Sure, woodpeckers can be a bit annoying, especially when they destroy your property, but ‘hate’? That’s such a strong word, right? Not for Mark.

As it turns out, the pesky woodpeckers had been drilling holes in Mark’s walls for one very practical reason – it was their food pantry!

After pulling the insulation away inside the walls, thousands and thousands of acorns poured out. Apparently, the woodpeckers had been inadvertently storing them for years!

The birds would peck their way through, hoping to save their acorn snack for later, but unfortunately for them, the walls are hollow, and they fell right to the bottom. Evidently, the woodpeckers never caught on to this fact and continued to drop acorns in the wall for who knows how long.

Mark had no idea that thousands and thousands of acorns had been hiding in his pool house walls.

With the camera still rolling, he demonstrates what happens when he pulls back another panel of insulation from the wall. He grabs a corner from the bottom and pulls up; another few hundred acorns come pouring out. It’s actually quite astonishing to see!

Although there’s one thing for sure, Mark has quite the mess to clean up, and we do not envy him for that. Maybe during this renovation, he’ll opt for a more durable material for the siding, but, that probably goes without saying.

“Oh, how I hate woodpeckers,” are last words Mark utters in the hilarious video below.
