Man Mesmerizes Horses With Native American Flute
This Native American instrument is extremely soothing. I can only imagine how curious the horses must have been to hear such a comforting sound.

Music has a way of soothing the soul, and the right kind of music can even put us into a happy little trance. But, we’re not the only ones that love to stretch out our legs and chill out to some amazing tunes.

This man mesmerizes horses with his Native American flute.

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that there are animals all around us whose hearing is a million times better than our own. And with the Pied Piper of the animal kingdom leading the way, they can be put under a musical spell, too.

He’s the Pied Piper of the animal world.

Michael Telapary is a Dutch musician who plays his Native American flute to captive audiences all over the world. As much as he loves performing for us humans, he has a soft spot for making furry, four-legged crowds happy, too.

One of his favorite animals to play for are horses, who are known for their speed, strength and beauty. But even the best stallions can be brought to their knees when the sweet dulcet tones of Michael’s flute reaches their ears.

This isn’t the first time Michael has brought his musical talent to his furry friends.

He’s been filmed playing for other music devotees, such as elephants, in the past. But, today he’s at the Animu Luce Horse Farm in Belgium, where a group of horses are waiting for him to work his flute magic.

In the video, Michael says that he’s played for these particular horses in the past, but they didn’t care for the high notes of the flute he used.

Now he’s back for round two, hopeful that he can win them over with his High Spirits contrabass flute, which has a much lower, deeper register.

Animals love hearing a good melody, just like we do!

On his website, Michael says that although animals react differently to his music compared to humans, it’s still very special:

“Playing the flute for animals is a special sensation because animals respond completely differently to music than people do. Some animals like high tones, others run away from it. It is always a surprise how an animal will react. Are animals aware of melody? I think so.”

Since Michael didn’t exactly make any new fans the last time he tried to play for this crowd of picky horses, this time around he’s trying something new.

“Let’s see if they like it and if they stay for my playing.”

The wooden flute that Michael has chosen is very large, and nothing like the smaller flutes most of use are used to seeing. It’s not hard to see how this flute would release a bevy of beautiful, deep tones into the air.

As soon as Michael starts playing his flute, one of the horses near him perks up his ears and starts edging closer to him.

“Okay, this one seems to like it. Let’s see what the other ones do when I play.”

That’s when the real magic starts to unfold. One of the horses lays down on the ground, totally relaxed, while others are drawn to the flute and start crowding around Michael as he continues to play.

But, as soon as he’s done, a white horse can be seen nudging Michael’s flute, as if begging for an encore.

Michael’s been filmed playing for animals of all kinds, and based on their reactions, they seem to enjoy listening in on this master flutist as much as we do.
