Man converts an old double-decker into a dreamy 3-bedroom rental
When Adam bought an old double-decker bus, no one could have known what the final result would be but it turned out incredible.

Adam Collier-Woods bought an old double-decker bus back in 2013. What he would do with it would end up being absolutely amazing.

Rather than working on the engine, he took the bus and permanently parked it in a beautiful wooded area with a hot tub. Then, he started working on the interior of the bus itself, and he didn’t stop until he had created a three-bedroom house for guests to stay in.

The results will astound you, and you won’t be alone in your awe. People from all over the world have come to stay in the bus since Adam finished rebuilding it. It’s hard to resist.

The Big Green Bus

The Big Green Bus is a 1982 West Midlands metro bus, or it was. Instead of carrying commuters around a city, it now comfortably fits six people who want to rest and relax.

Adam spared nothing in its interior design and construction. While he converted the space into a functional area to stay in, he also kept many of the original bus fittings to keep the aesthetic.

A look inside

The bus comes with a fully fitted kitchen as well as a dining area, lounge, and bathroom. The log burning stove means that it’s comfortable even on the colder days and nights in England.

The top floor has more to explore. It includes two full bedrooms and a third that contains bunk beds for the kids or extra guests. There’s also a chill-out space with a beautiful view overlooking parts of the forest. It’s a great area to play board games or kick back and enjoy a glass of wine with friends.

And a trip outside

Walking outside of the bus, you will be met with a forest full of trees, but that’s not all. There is a deck, a wooden hot tub, a picnic area, and somewhere to have and enjoy a campfire. If you take a walk along one of the paths, you might even get to meet the horses that have their pasture nearby.

It would be hard to find a more ideal getaway.

What it’s missing

There is no television or loud music in this little magical countryside abode on wheels. The place also comes without wifi, an almost unthinkable concept these days. What is does offer is a real chance to disconnect and spend some time in nature. If the idea of immersing yourself in the sounds of the forest is appealing to you, this might be your kind of bus.

Even COVID-19 isn’t stopping this trip

Keeping the place open to visitors hasn’t always been easy. There was a fire that forced Adam to cancel reservations while he made repairs. Then COVID-19 hit, and he had to turn away guests for about six months.

However, by the summer of 2020, he was back to accepting bookings again from people in the Sussex area who wanted a vacation away from everything but still close to home. No one could stay away. There wasn’t a single day left available on the summer calendar once everyone had booked.

Does that sound like bad news to you? There are still dates available later in the year and in years to come. This is one big green bus that will keep on trekking even without leaving its spot.
