Even though it’s an absolute classic and one of the most popular instruments out there, the guitar can actually prove to be a pretty challenging instrument to learn. And even when you do grasp the basics of playing guitar, it’s a lot harder to master it. Some say it even takes years of practice before you can call yourself a guitar legend, but some people out there are just naturally talented – just like this ten-year-old boy for example.

Garrett Podgorski loves his guitar and if you check one of his performances, you’d immediately think that he was made for playing guitar.

This kid truly is a rockstar! He definitely proved that the has the talent by surprising his orchestra teacher with an impromptu guitar-shredding performance. And the song he picked wasn’t exactly a piece of cake either – he chose “Eruption”, a classic Van Halen song that every guitar lover will recognize and admire.

To make this performance even more incredible, Garrett had only been playing the guitar for a mere two years at that point.

The young talented man actually started off his musical career with the bass as his best friend in the orchestra, but then his teacher discovered that Garrett had a YouTube account. He posted a couple of videos of himself there playing the guitar, and his teacher decided to let him switch to the guitar in the orchestra. She was blown away when she saw the videos, but she was even more awe-struck after this shredding session.

In the performance – which was recorded back in 2012 – Garrett made quite the impression.

He was a little bit nervous at first when he took the stage, and he knew that this was going to be a difficult song.

However, all those nerves went away as soon as that first note struck and he could do his thing.

The crowd couldn’t believe what they were hearing – it was absolutely incredible that these kinds of sounds were coming out of the electric guitar of a ten-year-old musician. The other kids in the orchestra couldn’t keep their eyes and ears off him as well.

Garrett commanded the entire room and ripped through the song with presence, style, passion, and power. He does the original song absolute justice, with a couple of added personal touches and twists. To give a classic song his own style is just absolutely amazing and musically genius.

Perhaps the person who was most impressed by the guitar skills was his orchestra teacher, even though the expectations were already sky-high.

When you witness an unexpected performance like this one live, you know that you’ve just seen something amazing. The room erupted in cheers!

A video of the performance was later posted on YouTube, and it’s not really a surprise that the footage went viral. Over 6,5 million have been able to listen to Garrett’s incredible guitar skills!

“Shout out to that teacher for noticing his passion and allowing him to express it even though it goes against what they do in class,” one commenter said.

Garrett is now 18 years old and is still very passionate about playing guitar. He still has his YouTube channel where he regularly posts guitar solos which are all worth checking out.
