It all started on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” The host created a segment in which celebrities would join him in a lip-sync showdown.

Will Ferrell, Ellen Degeneres, Tom Cruise, and many others went up against Fallon with hilarious results. Check out one of his more epic battles with actress Melissa McCarthy, just to get an idea (min 6 is where it truly gets great):

It’s no wonder that Lip Synch Battle is now its very own show. The new stand-alone program is executive produced by Fallon along with John Krasinski and Stephen Merchant and has featured celebrities such as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway, Justin Bieber, and Jennifer Lopez, all trying to see who lip-syncs best to the song of their choice.

The new show features a lot more props and costumes, and even backup singers, and is hosted by rap legend LL Cool J and model Chrissy Teigen.

In a recent episode, the audience was shocked to get an amazing and unexpected guest star – multi-award winning actress Kathy Bates. Now, maybe the young folks watching didn’t quite know what hit them, but for anyone over 30, Kathy Bates is an icon. But at least fans of the show American Horror Story still know who she is.

In a video that has garnered almost 6 million views on Facebook, Bates struts onto the stage to wild applause to lip-synch to Bruno Mars’ “That’s What I Like.” And it was as marvelous as you might imagine.

Bates enters the stage looking quite the gangster in a black fedora and big faux fur coat, sunglasses on and collar popped. The scene is a hotel room where bellhops and assistants are there to cater to her every whim.

She then tosses off her hat and begins to lip-synch “I got a condo in Manhattan; Baby girl, what’s hatin’?”

Posing as quite the player, Bates gets the audience riled up with her swagger.

It’s a pretty glorious scene if you ask us!

And with the magic words “I’ll rent a beach house in Miami; Wake up with no jammies,” Bates throws off her coat to reveal some animal print silk PJs and some swanky gold chains.

But it’s her smooth dance moves that really get the crowd and hosts roaring. Chrissie Teigen can’t help but belt out the words along with her.

And can you blame her? Look at these moves from the 70-year-old acting legend!

There’s something so fantastic about seeing someone get their groove on with a good sense of humor and the ability to entertain fans of any age.

And if you’re familiar with the song, you know “Gold jewelry shining so bright; Strawberry champagne on ice; Lucky for you, that’s what I like, that’s what I like” are some of the most well-known lyrics. So, obviously, there’s champagne on stage and Bates gets a good pour.

Like the rest of us, LL Cool J is so entertained, he can hardly hold it together.

Singing along to the last verse, Bates settles in for more champagne and pampering while singing “If you say you want a good time; Well here I am baby, here I am baby.”

She’s surrounded by dancers dressed as hotel staff, catering to her every whim. No doubt she made Bruno Mars proud as she finished off the song by dropping the champagne glass, like dropping the mic.
