Talent comes in all shapes, sizes, genders, and ages. There is no rule book on who can be good at what. That’s the beauty of it, whoever has the drive to put in the work can most certainly be exceptional at something. When it comes to older people, it’s easy to stereotype them. This will teach you, you should never judge a book by its cover, no matter how old it is.
When 80-year Paddy hit the stage with her younger dance partner Nico, the judges on the X-Factor UK were a bit skeptical. Immediately Simon Cowell said:
“This is weird.” Another judged mocked the duo saying “What is the nature of your relationship?”
The show started slow, Simon even hit his X button but he couldn’t have been more wrong. Once the music sped up the jaws dropped to the floor!
At first, it was slow classical music with ballroom style dancing but that only lasted about 30 seconds. After that, it was flying dance moves as I’ve never seen before, let alone from an 80-year-old!
The judges’ stood up from their seats and the crowd went wild!
The judges’ couldn’t believe their eyes! The acrobatic routine included twists, turns, flips, and perfect synchronized dancing!
Paddy and Nico wowed the audience with there moves, you can even hear the crowd let out a gasp when a move nearly has Paddy to the floor.
All of the judges’ were in disbelief to see how flexible and acrobatic the 80-year-old lady was. one judge even let out a huge scream to go with a shocked face.
At one point, the 80-year-old was completely holding up her own body weight as she swung from her partner’s neck!
The performance was astonishing, any stereotypes the judges’ originally had, smashed!
When Paddy hung from Nico’s neck while spinning and holding up her whole body weight the crowd went wild! This is a move even many young dancers aren’t strong enough to perfect.
It was obvious they were going through to the next round when one just pressed her golden buzzer!
The golden buzzer is reserved for only the best. If any judge hits their gold buzzer, it automatically guarantees the act a spot on the live semi-final. Even if all the other judges’ hit the red X button, Paddy and Nico are safe!
How’s that for starting with the judges’ doubt, they definitely proved them wrong!
The judges’ all had nothing but good things to say and apologized for doubting the pair.
When the performance ended, gold confetti shot from the ceiling and the judge that pressed the golden buzzer even went on stage to hug paddy!
This time the first words out of Simon’s mouth was an apology, he said:
“Wow, I apologize for what I did. I did obviously buzz a little early, this was before all the crazy things happened you know. It was all kind of like boring and normal, and then it all went ballistic, it was extraordinary.”
