Reality can be quite confusing sometimes, especially when we look at it through photographs. Perhaps half of these photos, you have no idea what’s going on, until you figure it out eventually. It’s easy to freak people out at first, but sometimes all you need to do is to take a second glance.
Almost all of these photos are just optical illusions, camera perspective tricks. It might take you a while before you can see it, but the truth is there if you look close enough. You’ll likely be both amused and puzzled trying to figure some of these crazy photos out.
This picture defies all odds. The girl is paddling her canoe across thin air. The water is a good foot or two underneath her.
The man is floating in mid-air. At least, that’s how it appears. His blue jeans are the exact same color as the lake.
The little girl looks like she has a pretty manly arm. It’s slightly too big for her body and there is a lot of hair on it. It could just be her dad sleeping next to her though.
We must be an artist because we definitely see the beach. It’s so disappointing to find out what it really is. It’s a big let down.
There is, in fact, a star on the top of this tree. It’s practically invisible during the day, but at night it lights up. That’s when it really shines.
This cat hat looks like it has a hole in the middle of its body. It’s a pretty strange marking to have. It is shaped perfectly.
7. Leaning Apartment Complex
The steep roads in San Francisco make it really easy to play with photo perspectives. Just tilt the camera at an angle that is even with the road and it will seem as though the building is leaning.
It’s a book about horses. This page shows two horses going in for a drink out of a tire. If you weren’t paying attention though, it would be easy to mistake it for a dirty magazine.
At first glance, we wanted to tell the woman to pull her pants up. We thought they fell down. However, it’s just her stylish new shoes. Celebrities are kind of weird…
Actually, it’s a guy wearing a hoodie sleeping on the subway. From this perspective though, it looks much spookier. The hood looks like the collar of his jacket.
We’re pretty sure this one isn’t even a trick. It’s just a guy who skipped leg day at the gym way too many times. The proportions of his body are now way out of wack. Although, the black shading on the insides of the pants doesn’t help either.
This is what it looks like when a dog sticks its head inside a dollhouse. Luckily, it’s not actually a giant dog. It would be pretty scary if that were the case.
It’s pretty freaky when your handprints in the mud end up looking 3D. That’s what happened to this man. He was shocked when he looked at the picture later and saw the hands rising from the sand.
Technically, the image is just focused through all of the stacks at the library. However, it seems much trippier than that. It reminds us of the scene at the end of the movie
Interstellar.
We’re not sure if this is the world’s smallest cat or world’s largest cat. It’s the same size as the donkey and sheep. Although, the figurines look miniature.
This guy looks like he has some giant pointy shoulders. Although, it’s really just the chair he is sitting on. It’s the same color as his suit.
When the man first received this picture from his sister, he thought their dog was doing a backflip. It would be pretty spectacular if it was, however, it’s just a weird angle. The dog was sleeping on the deck outside.
It looks exactly like a dog in the background. However, upon closer inspection, it turns out to be a side view of a person wearing headphones. It definitely had us fooled.
Parents will cringe at this one. Everyone knows you aren’t supposed to hold a baby like that. Luckily, it’s just an illusion caused by the hanging pajamas.
No, it’s not a man with spiky hair diving into the ocean in the background. That is the woman’s hand. She is examining a small black sea urchin.
Is it two cats or a white cat wearing a black hat? It might take you a little bit to figure it out. It’s a pretty deceiving photo.
Here we have a cat peering out over the ceiling from underneath a set of stairs. The stairs are the kind that don’t have any backs on them. It’s a very complicated perspective.
Who is wearing the captain’s hat? It’s not the man with the long shaggy hair and beard. Although, we could understand why you might think that.
If you look closely, you’ll see that it is a close-up view of a marsh with a bunch of ducks paddling around. However, it also looks a lot like the planet Jupiter. The markings are very similar.
“When I stand on this mountain, I am a giant,” writes the man. He feels like he is on top of the world. It’s because he practically is.
Where is the body of the cow? It appears as though it is just a floating head. It must be a really skinny cow. That’s the only explanation that makes sense.
Do you see the small slice of banana in the top part of the bowl? It is so angry! It must not have liked being cut up and mixed in with cereal.
It’s not the world’s goofiest pair of sunglasses, nor is it some supernatural phenomenon. It’s just a reflection of the underside of a lamp that is sitting on the table above the glasses.
The kid was moving his hand during the photo and it caused it to blend right in with the grandpa’s hand. Now he has the hand of an old giant. It’s pretty funny.
The sun gave the girl on the left an impromptu buzzcut. It’s a pretty stylish fade. However, it’s not what she expected to happen when she took the photo.
There is something off about the number of legs in this photo. We spot three people so there should be six legs, however, there are only four. Where are the other two?
If we didn’t know any better, we might think this is a photo from outer space. It looks like a solar system. However, it is actually an aerial shot taken at the annual Burning Man festival.
The cat didn’t get a Botox treatment done on her lips. She is just chewing on a donut toy. We understand if you didn’t realize it at first. The lips are very realistic-looking.
This one is great. Obviously, the photo was turned on its side and the situation was staged. However, it sure doesn’t look that way.
The head and the bodies don’t really match up. It’s a woman in a bikini with the head of a man. There is some serious gender confusion going on.
What is going on here, you might ask? It’s an upside-down picture of a pool, underwater, during rain. There is no real reason to take a photo like this. However, it certainly looks cool.
Looking out through the window, it appears as though the car is on fire. Fortunately, it’s just the reflection from the fireplace inside. It would be a disaster otherwise.
Once you see this, it’s impossible to ever look at the KFC logo the same way again. Colonel Sanders has a stick figure body. The son was telling the truth.
We thought this was a dog being really naughty at first. However, the golden retriever is not actually standing on the table. It’s just a reflection from the outside of the store.
“My cat seems to have misplaced his body somewhere,” explains the man. He is right. The cat’s body is nowhere to be found. How is the pet still alive?

Midsomer Murder. It’s actually a reflection caused by the sun. There is really a woman sitting there in the room.
If you see a dog wearing a gas mask when you look at this photo, don’t worry, you’re not alone. Most people do. Although, it’s actually just a veterinarian holding a magnifying glass.
There is nothing like a nice set of horns to set you apart from your other classmates. Somehow, no one is reacting though. We must be seeing something that they aren’t.
The fountains shot up at the perfect time. It makes the man walking in the background look like he is strolling through the park wearing a white bridal gown. It’s pretty hilarious.
This baby just came out of the womb and already has a full ponytail. At least, that’s what it seems like. However, it’s just a wig hanging on the mirror in the background.
This lady could easily pass for a muppet when she is hunched over. Her sunglasses look like eyeballs and her headband looks like a mouth. The likeness is unmistakable.
This is a super confusing one. It’s a girl standing on her head on the lap of another girl who is sitting in a trash can. The man is trying to keep her from falling.
48. Lack Of An Upper Body
Here we have a pair of legs standing in the subway without a body. The legs are wearing a dress, but once the dress gets above the waist, it completely topples over. It’s pretty unusual.
These photos may have been taken by accident, or was purposely shot to be that way. Regardless, they really do make your mind think hard enough just to process them.
