This particular drill team routine at a high school basketball championship started out with a beautiful rendition of the song “Hallelujah” written by Leonard Cohen. The soloist is soon joined by the rest of the drill team as they dance around her. To the onlooker, the routine seems at first like any other performed at halftime at games across the country.

Soon though, it becomes evident that this is anything but an ordinary performance as the ladies unfurl their capes into beautiful gossamer wings. But it isn’t until the lights go out that the show really gets started. At first the crowd waits expectantly, not knowing what is going on. It is only when the music takes on a faster tempo that the show really begins.
