Alcohol is embedded in our society, anywhere you go you’ll see some sort of drinking. Whether it’s the marketing of booze, bars, or events and parties, it’s all the same. That’s why it’s not surprising when we over-indulge, for some alcoholics, their life has become unmanageable and when they decide to quit, it’s immediately noticeable.
This guy decided to stop drinking, and it has completely transformed his life! He’s been sober for 3-years, his before and after doesn’t even look like the same person!
This alcoholic decides to quit drinking for good, he documents his progress on social media and the change is profound
Kenny is a 37-year-old railroad worker who got caught up in a life of drinking. When he finally sobered up, he started taking selfies in the bathroom as a way to document his sobriety. When he posted one of the progress pictures on Reddit, the response he got was overwhelming.
People from all over responded with support, some people even asked how they could get sober too.
“On my one-year anniversary, I took my picture and posted a side by side on Reddit and called it the Progression of Sobriety. I thought it would just be something uplifting for people to see, I had no idea I would get the kind of response that I did. The post was flooded with comments from people asking me about alcoholism and how I stopped drinking.” Kenny said.
In his first post, you can tell he’s really hurting in the picture, it’s labeled “24 hours sober”
Kenny’s first picture in sobriety is rough, you can see the agony and pain in his face as he snaps the photo. You won’t believe how fast he changes though!
Within a month he looks and feels much better, but that’s just the beginning
Kenny quickly starts feeling and looking like a whole new person, in his month photo he looks amazing, but that’s just the beginning.
Kenny starts to open up about his alcoholism and just how bad it got
Eventually, Kenny started to tell people the depths of his alcoholism, in hopes that his story could help someone else.
“I started drinking in college. But it didn’t become a real problem until about 10 years ago. I began drinking often and always to excess. I discovered at one point that I could not control the amount I drank once I had taken the first drink. I could not drink without getting drunk. So I decided to quit.” Kenny revealed on social media.
Fast forward 3-years, Kenny is still sober and he’s nearly unrecognizable
Throughout his sobriety, Kenny has changed his diet and found peace through a 12-step program. He went from a man that drank 12-24 drinks per night and blacked out 3-4 times per week, to a spiritual ball of positive energy.
Kenny is grateful that he was able to get sober, so many alcoholics never figure it out and die drunk. He plans to continue his journey into sobriety, “one day at a time.”
