Everything was going well for La’Kisha Wells and her family and they considered themselves as having “made it.”

They purchased their first home, all their kids were doing well in school, and they had a thriving business and work that they loved doing.

The family attributed all these blessings to God. And when Wells’ son, 15-year-old Torianto “Junior” Brinson, was pronounced dead after a terrible car crash, she says it was God that brought him back to life.

“One minute after it happened, my daughter called me, and she was hysterical. ‘Mom, you need to get here now.’ So, they were literally around the corner from the house. So, we drove on the street. Had to get out of the car, run, and saw him lying there,” Wells told FOX 10 Phoenix.

There were four emergency service workers on the scene who tried to unsuccessfully resuscitate the teen who was unresponsive.

Brinson was then rushed to the Texas Medical Center by Life Flight.

But the hospital told Wells that there was nothing more they could do for her son.

“I remember asking them, ‘You’re just going to let my baby just sit here?'” she said.

So, she decided to put the matter into God’s hands and began to pray over her son’s body after he had been pronounced dead.

“I was holding his hand and I prayed and told him, ‘Junior, I need you!’ A minute later, I saw his hand move,” Wells said.

Brinson was immediately brought in for traumatic brain injury surgery.

Brinson survived but was in a semi-coma for several months. It had become difficult for him to move. He also needed two people to help him walk.

But now Brinson is doing much better and is even back to playing basketball.

“It gets hard some days to think about the past, but to see where he is at now, it gives you a little more excitement for him,” Wells’ husband, Brian Wells, said.

Getting Brinson to the point where he has independence wasn’t the easiest task.

It took a lot of love and care from those around him and the staff at TIRR Memorial Hermann.

“We taught him how to brush his teeth, how to take a bath, how to eat,” said Wells. “I’m a teacher, so I began to teach him fourth-grade work, teach him how to comprehend what he reads again and comprehend math.”

Thanks to all the extra classes he was taking before the crash, he is scheduled to graduate high school on time even though he missed an entire year of school.

Wells says she decided to share her story in the hopes that it would help to inspire others to believe in the faithfulness of God.

She hopes that despite what man might tell us, to never lose faith in the power of God. While Wells was continually told that her son would never walk or talk, she continued to believe that God would make it so.

“Every mother, every Father, every person. It does NOT matter what man says, all you need to know is what GOD says. For he has the final Say. I pray his story ministers hope to your souls,” she wrote on Facebook.
