So many people spend thousands upon thousands of dollars on the perfect wedding.

And that can be a lot of fun.

But you don’t need a lot of money to make your wedding day one that you’ll never forget.

All you need is love, a little creativity, and some DIY magic.

Zoe and Perry’s wedding photos look like something out of a whimsical fairytale.

They spent just £300 ($389) on their bohemian barefooted wedding. The rest of the costs for their day was covered by donations and contributions from friends.

“My inspiration was to create our wedding with what I already had”, Zoe told Rock N Roll Bride. “The idea of making something from unsuspecting cheap materials and charity shops was great for us – I do love a project! It was simple, bohemian, unconventional and very us.”

Zoe and Perry had started planning their wedding about five years before they tied the knot.

Perry was in a bad accident and they decided they did want the fancy wedding they thought they were going to have.

‘We know that if we got married when we originally planned to it wouldn’t have been the wedding we wanted and it would have ruined us financially and emotionally,” Zoe said.

“We did lose money canceling but looking back feel like we gained a good insight into what could have been.”

While they had a celebration to mark their special day, they decided to make it a more intimate and low key event and save their money on a travel experience.

Their parents gave them £3500 ($4,544) which they ended up spending on a trip to Morocco.

Zoe and Perry’s family and friends also chipped in to help make the day possible.

The party was held in the garden at Zoe and Perry’s house.

Zoe’s friend did her hair and makeup.

Her aunt lent her the anklet she wore in the ceremony.

Zoe’s got her dress on sale and Perry’s suit was from TK Maxx.

Zoe used flowers from Tesco and her own plants and succulents to decorate the space.

Her headpiece was made by a friend as were the matching buttonholes that were made from succulents and wildflowers.

All of the confetti was handmade by growing and drying wildflowers.

She used some of her own home decor and decor from friends for extra decoration.

“Perry and I met our photographer Kat on a photo shoot where we were bride and groom for the day and Kat was my bridesmaid. We got on really well and she offered her time to help make our wedding day amazing after hearing our ideas and aims. Kat was amazing and it was great that she had a true perspective of who we were.

“Everywhere, friends were happy to lend a hand and what they own for our wedding day.”

Kat said she was so excited to be apart of Zoe and Perry’s special day which started with the ceremony at Cambridge registry office.

“It was an amazing, colourful and relaxed day, which completely reflected Zoe and Perry’s style. Everything was 100% diy’ed, including the gorgeous floral tipi and tassel bunting, handmade by Zoe herself, and that incredible succulent flower crown also handmade by one of Zoe’s friends!” Kat said on her blog.

She says the very best part of the day was how the family and friends help to transform the garden into a beautiful boho space.

Zoe says that spending time with family and friends to pull the wedding off was a time she’ll cherish.

“They helped us achieve my many crafty decor ideas, especially when they would be the first to admit that they weren’t too confident when it came to arts ‘n’ crafts”, she said.

“The many evenings we had brought us all closer, even the ones planning walks around our local area to collect flowers to dry. The worst part was when it was all over!”

But the real focus of the day was still Zoe and Perry.

“I love how much of Zoe & Perry’s personalities shone through on their wedding day. Their day – their rules. The perfect non-traditional wedding, that was truly ‘them,'” Kat said.
