They say absence makes the heart grow fonder.
There is no shortage of anecdotal evidence about this claim. People have to separate because of a myriad of social or economic issues, and other unavoidable circumstances that call for a grave decision. Be it your family, a friend or a lover, the distance that sets you apart is agonizing—yet the time you spent away from each other just amplifies the sense of longing and appreciation.
It is no different for this little girl who misses her father so dearly, after the latter left due to military training.
For this little girl, it is just another mundane day. But what she didn’t know is that her mom had a big surprise in store for her.
As the camera start to roll, a clueless kid arrives at the airport with her mom. This toddler is Carlin Ensman with her mom Mandy. This sudden visit means either they want to witness the flight and descent of several airplanes, or just appreciate the runway and the architecture of the airport itself.
Mandy told Carlin to stay put and look right there, whilst pointing in the direction of the passengers who just arrived.
At first, she was puzzled by what her mom meant. She must have been thinking “What is there to see?” She even glanced back to her mom in confusion with an expression that says “I’m failing to see your point here, mom.”
But when her doe eyes locked on a familiar figure, the little miss knew her prince charming had arrived.
Sauntering towards them is no other than her daddy and she can’t help but squeal in happiness!
The little bundle of joy can’t contain her excitement anymore that she runs as fast as she could to close the gap between her and her dad. Now if this isn’t the most adorable thing you have seen so far, I don’t know what is. There is just too much cuteness in one frame!
Get your tissues, because the best part of this touching scene is yet to come.
Her father scoops her up into his strong arms as he struggles to rein in his emotions and tears.
Most men have heard that boys don’t cry, but as Carlin continues to express her utmost delight upon seeing her dad, her father is smiling his way through teary eyes upon cradling his little girl.
Waves of relief crash over him! No father wants to be away from his family, but he has no choice. He must fulfill his duty as a soldier of the country. And now he is finally home. They will make up for the time they have lost!
He continues to smother his daughter with kisses that scream of longing and affection.
It is wonderful to witness such a heart-warming scene, a precious moment for them. And we are lucky enough that Mandy decided to share it with us.
Being a soldier is no joke and it is not something that should be taken lightly.
They risk their lives to protect their family and countrymen.
