For much of their lives, a trio of young siblings in foster care only had each other, until a loving single father with a huge heart gave them all a home to live in for good.
For the last five years, these foster children were placed in sixteen different group homes.
Since 2016, Nine-year-old Nevaeh, six-year-old Willis, and four-year-old Miquel endured much disappointment being shuffled around in the foster care system.
The siblings remained by each other’s sides and all maintain a cheery attitude despite their hectic past and lack of a permanent home.
That is until Darryl Anderson, a single father from Vernal, Utah, heard about their heartbreaking backstories.
What really brought him to tears was the realization that being constantly on the move at such a young age meant they’d have little time to just be kids.
“There are kids out there in this world that don’t have a place to call home,” Anderson said in a KSL news interview. “When Christmas comes, where will they go?”
Already with plenty of experience as a father under his belt from a previous marriage, Anderson decided to make his family a little bit bigger.
And so, with their blessing, Anderson filled out the necessary paperwork and adopted the young siblings in October last year. While most would find the task of raising three children difficult, Anderson welcomes it with wide-open arms.
“Like the saying says, ‘because I have been given much I too must give,’” Anderson said. “You know, you say it’s hard just to adopt one. But three? That’s three times the blessings.”
Since then, Anderson has dedicated his love and time to the siblings raising them as his own.
As for the children, not only do they have a home they can call their own, but their love and gratitude for their new father is as clear as day. “We love you more than the earth,” Willis told his father. “It’s because you’re a good dad!”
“I just want them to be happy,” said Anderson. “I want them to know that the past is the past and they get to make their own future.”
And with the amount of love Andersons showers his children with, both biological and adopted, it’s clear that from now on their future will be a bright one.
