Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions is bringing back some of the best performers from the past seasons, so by no surprise, Stavros Flatley was invited to compete. Only this time, the father-son duo’s hilarious audition had Simon Cowell actually slamming down on the Golden Buzzer.

Stavros Flatley is known for their comical Greek act where the pair dance on stage with their bellies hanging out. Although it’s been a decade since their initial appearance on BGT – their most recent performance is a reminder of why the world fell in love with them in the first place.

Back in 2009, Demi Demetriou and his 12-year-old son Lagi walked in front of the judges wearing just their normal clothes. They then disappeared backstage, only to give everyone the biggest surprise when they returned.

Demi came leaping out dressed in costume, which consisted of a blonde wig, headband, and no shirt. He had the room cracking up pretending to be a Greek version of the famous river dancer, Michael Flatley. It got even funnier when Lagi joined his dad on stage wearing the same outfit.

Although Stavros Flatley didn’t take home the champion prize that year, the show did help launch the lovable pair into stardom.

According to the ClassiQue website, over the years Stavros Flatley has performed all over the world, made TV show appearances, launched merchandise, released the book How to Be A Little Bit Greek, and even created a line of Greek foods called, “Stavros Flatley’s Greek Kitchen.”

Everyone got served up a treat when they were called to compete in Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions show.

Stavros Flatley’s new audition began with a flute player performing in the middle of the auditorium – followed by Celtic dancers lighting up the stage. But it was just getting started…

Suddenly, Demi comes bursting out dressed in his iconic Greek costume, bare belly and all! He has the crowd going wild with his river dancing skills right before he stops to make a pose. It was about to get twice as good.

Right on cue, Lagi comes bounding out too! Only now that it’s years later – he’s (of course) no longer a kid and all grown up.

It’s a performance that pulls out all the stops. Complete with exploding flames, drummers, dancing ladies, and none other than the laugh-out-loud duo Stavros Flatley stealing the spotlight.

They even ended their audition just as we would have hoped – by throwing their wigs straight towards the judges’ panel.

A very winded Demi grabs the microphone to give a heartfelt speech.

“I can’t tell you how much you going mad for us makes us feel. But I want to say this show is amazing. We’ve been all over the world, we’ve done things and been places we never thought we’d be – and it’s ’cause of you guys.”

Demi also expressed how proud of his son Lagi he was before giving him a great big hug.

While Stavros Flatley was appreciative of all the opportunities BGT has provided, on the other hand, Simon too wanted to show his appreciation to the duo.

He tells them,

“Look, I’ve wanted to say this to you for years. I’ve really wanted to thank both of you for everything you’ve done … I want to be able to thank you and there’s one way I can do this.”

And with that, Simon rises from his chair and slams on the Golden Buzzer! It’s the ultimate honor on the Got Talent series, for it sends the contestant straight to the final rounds. As to be expected, everyone’s reactions are priceless!
