While there are plenty of comedy acts that light up the stage of Britain’s Got Talent – one that will go down in history is the Greek duo Stavros Flatley.

Nobody knew what to think at first when 40-year-old Demi Demetriou and his 12-year-old son Lagi stepped in front of the judges. However, it didn’t take long for their dance performance to have the audience roaring with laughter.

It’s an audition that’s so hilarious it’s been viewed more than 31 million times on YouTube. In fact, even Simon called it one of his “favorite ever dance acts.”

Demi and Lagi spoke with the panel of judges before their audition, which consisted of Piers Morgan, Amanda Holden, and Simon Cowell. The father and son pair weren’t wearing any fancy costumes, nor did they have any props. Frankly, they didn’t stick out too much at that point.

Little did anyone know at the time, there was tons of humor heading their way.

Everyone watched as the duo headed backstage to make a couple of “preparations.” That’s when a voice came booming through the speakers.

It said:

“Ladies and gentlemen, many years ago in Cyprus lived a man who loved to dance. He would dance for the villagers and the villagers loved to watch him dance…”

Let’s just say that Simon didn’t seem too interested at all. Not that you’d want to pass judgment so quickly, but it could have been the beginning of a real snoozefest.

Here’s where it took a surprising turn.

After the voice introduced Stavros Flatley, a very different looking Demi came bounding out onto the stage. He was dressed in a blonde wig, sweatband, but something was missing…oh, his shirt!

The Greek character performed some flying leaps and stopped to strike some poses. With Ronan Hardiman’s song, “Cry of the Celts” playing in the background – he then began to Riverdance (just like famous dancer Michael Flatley).

But wait, there was another thing missing – little Lagi.

Suddenly, Demi posed one more time and the boy came running out on stage dressed in the same costume. Everyone went wild with laughter.

Now with two shirtless, blonde dancers, it was about to be twice as hysterical!

Lagi also performed Riverdance on stage and showed off his awesome poses and moves. One of the best parts though is watching the judges’ reactions. Stavros Flatley had them bursting at the seams throughout the entire audition.

According to the promotions company ClassiQue, they described themselves as:

“…two fat versions of Michael Flatley…with a Greek element…”

The pair ended their performance by throwing their wigs out to the crowd. Finally, it was time to see what the panel of judges thought about their Greek act.

We all know that Simon can be a tough cookie at times. Yet, after their audition is when he gushed:

“Can I say, this is one of my favorite ever dance acts.”

Amanda was blown away too and couldn’t get over the surprise of it all. She exclaimed:

“I’m ecstatic because it came completely out of left field. I had no clue what was going to happen.”
