What's worse is that he was just 3-months-old when he was dumped for the new puppy.

All too often, people abandon their unwanted pets on the side of the road. The best choice would be to take the pet to a shelter, but some people just don’t do that.

This abandoned puppy, Yoda, is one of those dogs who was left on his own with nowhere to go and no idea what was going on.

Abandoned

Yoda’s family had just gotten a new puppy. Even though Yoda was still a puppy too, they decided to let him go. This sweet 3-month-old dog was soon abandoned by the family that he knew and trusted.

The family dropped Yoda off at a garbage dump and left him there completely alone. This little guy was alone and afraid. He was also probably confused. He went from being with his family one minute to being all by himself in a strange place the next minute!

When Yoda was left at this garbage dump, he developed tick bite fever. In addition to being alone and confused, he wasn’t at his best health-wise.

Luckily, poor Yoda wasn’t all alone for too long. Things began to look up for the little guy.

Rescued

Sidewalk Specials is a rescue dedicated to saving dogs from abusive situations. They are a foster-based rescue, which means that all of the dogs that they rescue are placed in temporary homes.

The folks at Sidewalk Specials found Yoda at the garbage dump and were ready to help. He was a bit timid at first but warmed up to them eventually.

Because Yoda was sick with tick bite fever, he was also very weak and hungry. When the rescuers offered him some food, he seemed very enthusiastic.

After Yoda was rescued, he was placed at Pet Places. This pet hotel, in Cape Town, South Africa, was the perfect foster home for little Yoda.

Pet Places is partnered with Sidewalk Specials. For each booking at Pet Places, they donate 10% of the sales to Sidewalk Specials. This helps Sidewalk Specials to continue doing their good work of rescuing dogs all over. Many rescues operate on donations alone, so every little bit from Pet Places and other donors makes a big difference.

Adopted!

Sidewalk Specials had an adoption day event coming up, and they wanted Yoda to be there. This was a good chance for homeless pets to find their forever homes.

Adoption events like these are pretty popular and give prospective pet owners an opportunity to see all of the pets available for adoption. Plus, they can learn more about rescue organizations and donate money if they aren’t able to adopt a new pet.

Before the adoption event even took place, Yoda’s life was changed for the best. He was adopted by Pet Places. Pet Places chose to adopt Yoda as their own. He earned the new title of the Harbor House Hotel’s mascot!

Since Yoda has found his new place in this world, he’s been much happier and is loving his life! His new family is taking great care of him.
