Ellen has been a popular mainstay on TV for a long time now, and shows no sign of pumping the “fun brakes”. She has been a favorite talk-show host for nearly two decades and every year seems to push the boundaries of daytime television just that little bit further-
“I’ve done this show for 17 seasons and just like me, it just keeps getting hotter.”
However, sometimes broadcast standards can mean that not everything can make it to air…
“Sometimes things happen that are too hot for TV but you deserve them because you deserve to see the truth.”
That’s us she’s talking to. So what Kind of “truth” do we deserve? What exactly is “too hot” for TV? Well, let’s take a look…
Don’t we just love watching celebrities squirm with embarrassment?
Let’s just say that Ellen’s sneak-peak of the content in her show that didn’t quite make it over the line can be… insightful. How else would we know what Chelsea Handler’s name for her…“little special spot” is? Here’s a hint: It’s not as “adult” as you might think.
Some A-listers however, don’t go below the belt quite so easily.
When asked what her favorite body part of partner A-Rod is, J- Lo goes with the discreet answer “I Love his…arms…” But it’s clear that wasn’t going to be her first answer! Of course ever the joker, Ellen gives a not so discreet answer, and jumps straight to the meat of the question.
Comedian Ali Wong has a no-nonsense outlook on weddings… And turns Ellen a little bit red!
“I didn’t want to torture my friends and make them be bridesmaids. Do you want to spend like $150 on this bogus-ass dress that you’re never going to wear again? And spend a weekend with a bunch of b*tches that you don’t know?!”
She then goes on to describe the type of saucy decorations one normally sees on a bachelorette party. I think we can safely say that these decorations tend to be a little bit X-rated! That’s not for everybody. She even sets a record for number of times a particular part of male anatomy is mentioned on the show… I guess that is too hot for TV!
It’s not just celebrities who make Ellen blush though! Sometimes poor unsuspecting guests can put Ellen on the spot.
One guest had a rather embarrassing admission when she had to clue Ellen in on some of the more personal items in her handbag:
Ellen: What’s that?
Guest: Birth Control…
Ellen: Okay… Yeah I… I don’t know what that looks like!
Oh Ellen, don’t ever change…
Sometimes things just get downright silly.
This fruit-salad may be innocent enough, but you can see why some may have erred on the side of caution with putting such a banana sundae as this on daytime television!
“I Know you were worried about your outfit and now I realize why” says a blushing Ellen
Of course, sometimes it’s Ellen who dons a ridiculous outfit and gets a little too silly for censors.
How about this ensemble? Everybody’s had their turn at parodying Kim Kardashian West’s larger than life… persona, but this is a new look for Ellen altogether!
Perhaps this next outfit was a little too risqué for broadcast standards, but Cardi B seems to be having a good time!
Maybe Ellen should leave the twerking to the experts, however. Not to say that you haven’t “got it” Ellen!
There’s no doubting that Ellen has long been one of the greatest daytime television talk-show hosts of all time. Arguably, you don’t get such acclaim by playing it safe, sometimes you need to push the boundaries a little bit. The good news is, even if these clips were a bit much for broadcasting standards, the internet is another story!
