Driver takes extreme measures to douse his burning car when he sees septic truck
Oh, crap!

What would you do? Would you go to this extreme?

Chances are that a lot of would do exactly what this poor driver did. But hopefully, we’ll never need to find out.

In a dire and scary situation, most of us are going to jump at whatever chance there is to make a bad situation a little bit better. Even if it’s something we wouldn’t dream of doing under normal circumstances.

Here’s the Scenario

There you are tooling along the highway in your high-end car. A BMW X6 like the one pictured above. Maybe you’re feeling pretty good about yourself. Maybe you’re feeling a bit cocky. But any feelings of pride you might have been having quite suddenly go up in flames.

Literally.

The engine bay of your car is on fire and has begun spewing flames and fumes. You immediately react and do your best to get the car to the side of the road.

I’m sure there are a few people who travel around with a fire extinguisher in the trunk, but I’m not one of them and it seems this poor guy isn’t either. But it’s likely his mind raced with alternatives. Was there anything he could do while he waited for fire trucks to arrive?

It’s decision time. You notice a truck nearby. And not just any truck but a truck with a tank full of liquid. The problem? It’s a septic truck.

At this point, do you care? You want that fire out, and you want it out now.

And it seems that the driver of the septic truck is perfectly willing to use his—ahem, load—to help someone in need.

They get the hose and begin dousing the car. At one point you can see the owner turn on his windshield wipers, and I’m honestly not sure about the point of that. I mean, you are spraying this crap—pun intended—all over the car. What’s the point of turning on the wipers? But to be fair, I’m sure it was a very tense time and maybe he wasn’t thinking straight. Maybe the smoke and fumes—and I mean the fumes from the fire and the fumes from the sludge—were slowly incapacitating him.

And in a scary move, the driver also opens that hood. I understand the need to get more, um, fluid, on the engine, but flames could have flown up into his face when he did this.

However, they get the hood open and continue to fight fire with poo. And eventually, poo wins. All that’s left to see is billowing smoke. And as far as smell, I’m sure an odor that lingered long.

What Would You Do?

Would you do the same? Would you have made the same choice? The engine was already on fire, and the car likely totaled. Of course, fire can spread and that could be deadly.

Hopefully, we’re never faced with the same sort of choice!
