Dogs are so wonderful, sometimes it feels like repaying them for all of their love and affection is impossible. They make our lives so much better on a daily basis, how could you ever match that?

When special days like Christmas or their birthday come around, we try our best to show our appreciation for them. They deserve the world, after all!

Alistair Clyde definitely felt the pressure to do something amazing for her Belgian Malinois named Titus, but she still tried. She knew his birthday was coming up so she wanted to try to do something extra special for him.

“Titus is the goofiest boy. He loves to play 24/7. He’s also the smartest dog I’ve ever had,” Clyde told The Dodo earlier this year.

So Clyde sat down and basically asked herself, “What would Titus want? What would make him happy?” As soon as she asked herself that, the answer became clear: Tennis balls. She knew that Titus went nuts for those bright yellow spheres!

But Clyde wasn’t just trying to do the bare minimum. She didn’t just want to get him a pack of three tennis balls and be done with it. She wanted to make it a day Titus would remember forever.

“I saw that you could buy 30, 60, 200 or 400 tennis balls,” Clyde said. “I first picked the 60 one and was like, ‘What? No. That’s not good enough. He deserves ALL the tennis balls!’”

It sounds ambitious and that’s because that’s exactly what Clyde wanted.

So she ordered 400 tennis balls for the pup who deserves it.

The balls finally arrived in two enormous boxes and it was hard to keep Titus away for long. Even before she decided to properly gift him with the tennis balls, he managed to sniff them out and even grab one or two himself. She wasn’t lying — he is smart!

When Titus’ birthday officially came, Clyde unleashed the tennis balls all over the house. They rolled underneath couches, into different rooms, etc… And Titus was having an absolute ball (pun intended).

Titus was beside himself.

“At first, he was a little taken aback when I dumped them. It took about five seconds for him to start running around like a maniac in excitement,” said Clyde.

Titus’ older dog brother witnessed the whole thing go down as well. He wasn’t as excited since he’s a bit older but that’s okay. It was to be expected.

“[He’s] getting a little older so stays on my lap and watches. He got treats so he knew he was special and loved, too,” Clyde added.

Days after Titus’ birthday and Clyde was still finding tennis balls hidden in every corner of her home. This was also expected though, so she just began to pick them up as she saw them throughout the week.

She plans to keep some of the balls for Titus, who still loves them very much, but she also plans to donate a good bulk of them to a local shelter. More puppies deserve a fun treat like that!
