Dad’s hilarious ‘Hello’ parody makes Adele song quarantine-relatable
Hello... from the inside?

Now that we are all self-quarantining, it is safe to say that some of us are beginning to lose our minds. When you go from working in an office with other people for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week to staying in your house alone 24/7, it is only natural that we will start to feel a bit insane. Or if we aren’t going insane, we are feeling bored at the very least.

The good thing about all of this is that it will probably lead to us dabbling in the creative things we have always wanted to try in our spare time, like painting, making music or knitting. Or if you’ve been on the Internet lately — you’ll see a lot of bread baking.

This dad, Chris Mann, has been getting really creative with his time. The YouTube personality recently decided to shine a little light on the whole situation and write a parody to the pop hit, “Hello,” by Adele.

And funny enough, his parody is all about self-quarantining and the struggles that come along with it.

Of course, making jokes about the current situation we are in has the risk of feeling a little… too soon. But the dad makes it so funny and light-hearted, it is impossible to not giggle.

The parody is called “Hello (from the inside),” as opposed to the main lyric of the original song, which is, “Hello from the outside.” Definitely sounds like a song about quarantine, that is for sure.

“Hello, it’s me, I’m in California dreaming about going out to eat,” Mann starts to sing at the beginning of the parody. He continues to sing about “corona life,” and bonus points for having another timely cover called, “My Corona” (originally “My Sharona” by The Knack).

The “Hello” parody was just uploaded on March 26 and has already gotten almost 9 million views with over 212,000 likes and comments.

“People get so creative when they start losing their minds,” one user commented. “In twenty years, this will be an important historical document,” another used said. “The future generations will be watching this for their history project and will be so confused,” someone else added.

In addition to “Hello” and “My Corona,” the 37-year-old father has one more corona-related parody, called “Stay Home and Vogue” — a play on Madonna’s “Vogue.” I mean, it’s not like he doesn’t have the time to make all of these genius parodies right now, right?

“I shoot the videos using my iPhone and a tripod and I have a 3-hour window to get all the shots during my toddler son’s nap time. It’s pretty intense and is sort of a game unto itself. My wife, Laura, has an amazing directorial eye and she gives me notes on my first video edit and then I tweak it for the final version,” Mann told Bored Panda.

“I’m using Garage Band and iMovie for editing so it’s all really basic. I’m not researching songs to parody — more like a song will come to mind and a lyric substitution will then pop into my head. I have 5 to 6 ideas floating at any given time and for some reason, one will just stick out to me and I’ll run with it. I’m completely overwhelmed by the response so far,” he continued.
