One man has set out to prove this in a live Facebook video that went viral almost as soon as it posted, with over 41 million views to date.

Daniel Eisenman wears a coat of many colors, fatherhood included.

In addition to being a successful author and motivational speaker in Southern California, he and his wife Diana are also remarkable parents to their daughter, Divina.

At the time the live video was recorded, Divina was still just a newborn.

As all newborns do, Divina began to cry during the live video!

Instead of caving under the pressures of parenthood and getting frustrated like so many people would, Eisenman did the seemingly impossible.

He actually calmed his crying baby. He didn’t distract her with toys or shove a bottle in her face. He soothed her emotions so she was no longer uncomfortable.

So how did he do it? With the power of his voice and his vibrations.

As Eisenman is speaking of the power of letting yourself be free in your emotions and decisions, little Divina starts experiencing emotions of her own.

As she works herself up into a good cry, her Daddy very nonchalantly peers into her face and lets out a long, steady “Om”.

Within seconds his precious baby girl falls back into a beautiful state of rest, looking as peaceful as can possibly be.

Eisenman explained to TODAY that his trick worked because it is a familiar sound to his baby from her time in Diana’s womb.

“Friends would come over, and we would chant to the belly… Even during the birthing, we were playing Thai Buddhist Monk chanting. Beautiful track.”

As it turns out, there’s quite a bit of science behind this sentiment.

According to Dr. Darcia F. Narvaez from Psychology Today, the most effective way to calm your crying baby is by recreating experiences that are familiar to them from their time in the womb.

When a baby is adapting to life outside of the womb in their first few months, known as the 4th trimester, it can be a very stressful time.

You can ease that stress by making sounds similar to what they heard before they entered into the world, such as singing, chanting, or white noises like fans or vacuums.

“The babies’ time in the womb was marked by many rhythmic sounds. Sounds similar to those babies heard in the womb can be very calming. White noise offers constant surrounding sounds while also slowing brain wave frequencies.”

Another important calming technique is using the power of touch.

When a baby is upset, one of the fastest ways to calm them is to pick them up and hold them close.

Dr. Narvaez points out that not only does the warmth and closeness feel like their former warm, watery environment, but it actually has an overwhelming amount of physiological health benefits as well.

“Being in contact with warm, naturally (un)scented, skin is proved to be calming for infants/babies, it helps to stabilise their body temperature, heart rate and stress hormones and stimulates the release of oxytocin – the love and bonding hormone – in parent and baby both.”

In his video, Eisenman instinctually employs two of the top three techniques for calming a child and managed to bring his baby girl right back into a state of calm.

If he would have rocked or swayed with his sweet Divina, the soothing trifecta would have been complete.

Clearly, he didn’t need to though, and neither will you if you just listen to your heart and nurture your baby with love and comfort.
