For those who are seeking to become stars, shows like The Voice, The X Factor, and So You Think You Can Dance are always on the lookout for fresh new talent. Some reality competitions even offer “kid versions” of their programs, recognizing that it’s not just adults who are gifted.

Antonio and Maria Rosaria are young performers striving for success. Like plenty of others, they too wanted to showcase their dancing skills on big stages and on TV.

When Ballando on the Road came to town, the duo decided to throw their hats in the ring. Ballando con le Stelle is a popular show in Italy – their version of Dancing with the Stars (or Strictly Come Dancing).

In the video, Antonio and Maria Rosaria audition for the program while a large crowd watches from the sidelines. They’re dressed in beautiful costumes covered in rhinestones, making them look like professional dancers.

But did they really have skills? The audience was ready to find out.

After a brief interview with the Italian host, Antonio and Maria Rosaria pose briefly waiting for their music to play. And when it does – watch out!

Dancing to the funky song, “I Like it Like That,” by Pete Rodriguez – the pair performs a cha-cha-chá routine that’s truly showstopping. It’s fast, upbeat, and pretty much leaves your jaw on the ground.

At first, their moves are synchronized while they set the floor on fire. Even watching their faces is entertaining as they’re full of expression from beginning to end.

The Duet Dance Studio website gave a brief background on the style of dancing (often called cha-cha):

“Also known as Cha-Cha-Cha, it is a dance style originated in Cuba and became popular in the U.S. in the 50s. Cha-Cha is also a competitive Latin dance style in both American and International ballroom dance competitions.”

In addition, the site also provides some information on the steps involved:

“The basic consists of a rock step and a chasse step, which is a triple step pattern that goes step-together-step. The chasse step in Cha-Cha makes the dance look more intricate, sharp and stylish. Similar to other Latin dances, in Cha-Cha, dancers keep their feet close to the floor and let their hips move freely throughout.”

Near the end of Antonio and Maria Rosaria’s performance, they break away from a synchronized act and face each other dancing. It’s apparent that they have great chemistry as partners, which has the ability to shine through.

The youngsters’ spin on the classic dance has been thumbs-upped more than 74,000 times on YouTube. It’s fun, lively, and kinda makes you want to take classes yourself. As they say, it’s never too late to chase a dream!

Speaking of dreams coming true…

On top of the performance winning over the internet, Antonio and Maria Rosaria eventually danced on the set of Ballando con le Stelle, Little Big Shots 2, and Little Big Stars. Surely, there will be much more in their futures too.
